”Everyone in our household is smitten with Perla. She is a small dog with a big personality. She keeps us on our toes and is a lot of fun to have around. Everyone who has met her while she's been with us has fallen in love with her. She is active from morning until night, checking on everyone and making sure she's not missing out on anything. While I'm working at my desk she comes over and wants to be held and cuddled, and then she gets down again to survey her domain. She is very special and will make someone very happy.”

Perla came to FBRN when the expense of managing her allergies became overwhelming for her previous family. We’re sure glad to help and we know the perfect forever family is out there for this sweet little cream-puff!

One of Perla’s nicknames from her foster family is “Busy”. It is because she wants to be part of everything and walks around the house with a determined gait to make sure she hasn’t missed anything or anyone! Perla has a loud voice and makes her displeasure known if she feels left out. She plays well with her Frenchie foster brother and will defer to him occasionally as circumstances dictate. They both enjoy a good game of Frenchie wrassling or keep-away and play very well together.

Given the chance, Perla can destroy a stuffy with the best of them! Everything goes into her mouth! She is not destructive, but small childrens toys that are left out could be problematic. Being young, Perla has lots of energy and she’s up and around almost all day (though she sleeps well at night).

Of course, being a sweet, petite girl, another favorite activity is couch sitting with her people. Perla likes being held and will often enjoy that instead playing with toys. Perla is crate-trained but much prefers being with her people. She’s also house-trained but has had accidents when she’s been confused about the rules. Consistency should resolve that once she’s settled into her forever home. Given Perla’s love of humans, she’d be happier in a household that has someone around during the day.

Perla’s voice is loud, and she uses it! Therefore, a house with a yard is probably better than an apartment. Perla’s health is excellent save for her allergies which have been well-managed with Apoquel. Routine baths are also part of her care and she is very compliant for her baths and grooming. Perla is very smart and would be a great candidate for some basic training and obedience classes. Given her love of people, she could be great in an office setting if she were trained to control her voice while at work.

Perla’s only medical condition is her left eye – we’re told that her eye was damaged when she was a puppy. Perla’s depth perception is impaired, and of course, she bumps into things on her left side occasionally, but Perla doesn’t know she is missing an eye! Saline drops can be used if needed, but her vet advised that there is no need for further action.

This is what Perla’s foster mom has to say about her,” Everyone in our household is smitten with Perla.

If you are ready for a playful, busy, curious little girl who needs consistent allergy care and attention, but gives back a thousand-fold in joy, consider filling out an application and planning a trip to Central Texas for Perla. FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.

FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations and we do not set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.

About Perla:

Perla is blind in her left eye as a result of an injury sustained as a puppy. She has allergies and must remain on daily Apoquel, Nordic Natural Omega-3 Pet Supplements, and have twice weekly medicated baths. Potty training is a work in progress.
