In Memory of Chica
With a heavy heart, I wanted to let you know that we had to help Chica cross the rainbow bridge this evening. A biopsy last week had confirmed cancer and the doc said her body was basically riddled with it... "lymphatic invasion... 90 percent."
She was doing pretty well until the last couple of days. That's when she stopped eating, and then she was no longer able to use her legs. We bumped up her pain meds, yet she was starting to "cry" in pain/despair. We knew it was time.
My husband, my friend Paige (also a FBRN volunteer) and I were with her until the end. It was heartbreaking....but I now know she's out of pain. And I'm sure she's chasing bunnies and sunbathing with my mom as I type this. We knew little Chica for less than three weeks, yet we felt she was a long time family member. We will miss her like mad.
Please light a candle in Chica's honor...I'm looking forward to seeing her again one day.
