In Memory of Risky
1996-2006

Risky came to FBRN with advanced mast cell cancer. At ten years old, we were worried that she didn't have much time, so when her foster mom, Kathy, volunteered to keep her for whatever time remained, we were grateful. The cancer continued to grow inside Risky through this January, and on January 26, 2006, Risky left us with a kiss.
The following was Kathy's description of Risky's life in their home.
When she first came, she had the family buffaloed. She would snap when you tried to get her out of her crate. Within a couple of weeks, she was at home and thoroughly trained us to play by her rules.
Rule 1. Risky gets up when she's darn well ready!
Rule 2. When she's ready, open the darn crate, so she can go out, NOW!!!
Rule 3. When Risky wants in, you'd better hurry.
Rule 4. Feed Risky snacks at every third click of the clock.
Rule 5. The floor in front of the TV is for peeing and don't put any darned potty pad there, either!
Rule 6. Soft things are for Risky's nap, don't let the other dogs think they can use them.
We learned to follow her rules. Risky followed my 81 year-old Mom all over the house (Grandma is a treat sucker!) and came to all of us for rubs when she needed them!
She was a delightful tyrant we all learned to love!
