UPDATE 4/18/08
Tobias has had successful nares and palate surgery and is resting and recovering!

He's also had some visits to specialists. Tobias has not been feeling well, and testing by his primary care vet indicated perhaps he needed a team of specialists to offer their insight and expertise.

Tobias has been seen by both an Internal Medicine Specialist and a Neurologist who agreed that an abdominal ultrasound, radiographs of his lungs and back and testing for Cushing's Disease were warranted. We are awaiting the results of the testing and the reports from both specialists.

He has a variety of issues to be addressed and the first step has been additions or adjustment to his medications. This frog has his own little black bag filled with both OTC and prescribed medications, all of which he relishes when wrapped in liverwurst...ssh!!! He thinks he's getting a treat, don't share our secret.

We will share another update when his reports are complete and we have a clearer understanding of his medical issues. Please, in the meantime, cross your paws for good news for our Toad, he certainly appreciates your warm thoughts.

Affectionately known to his foster mom as Tobias Toad, we now have a brindle beefcake boy to add to the foster page. Tobias resided happily with his family in Queens for nine years--and then came the children. Toddlers can often be a tad overzealous for frogs, and we are happy to help him find a new residence.

Tobias presented himself as a frenchie who was not feeling well, so he was off to the vet within days of joining foster care. Tobias was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia, severe allergies and dry eye. All of these are currently being treated, but Tobias will be returning for a re-check of his lungs, skin and eyes during his time in foster care. Once he has a clean bill of health, he will be evaluated for possible nare and palate surgery for easier breathing.

Tobias is a nine year-old, 35 pound neutered male, with the typical clownlike frenchie personality. As the days pass and he feels better, his affectionate personality is emerging. He loves the resident pugs and frenchies in his foster home, and the kitties too. He can often be found snoozing in an empty doggy bed between bursts of energy, waiting for the next round of activity. Within the first day, he was eating, taking his medications, smooching with the resident dogs and being the guest of honor at the nightly slumber party. Tobias gets along wonderfully with dogs and people, and he has no problem sharing food and attention. He loves everything about foster care and has adjusted quite nicely to the major changes in his life. Tobias is highly adaptable and people-loving; as long as he is part of the family, all is well in Tobias's world. Please consider sponsoring Tobias, to help ensure that only good health and good things are in his sunny future.
