Thalia, aptly named for the muse of comedy, but known to her best friends as Pinky, has burst into FBRN. She was dumped at a shelter by her former owners, but luckily she was bailed out by a quick-acting FBRN volunteer and is now settling into her foster home.
After the ride from the shelter, her foster mom was preparing a room to give this poor girl the peace and quiet that dogs often need after being pulled out of a shelter situation. Upon turning around to place Thalia in a crate, the foster mom discovered that this mischievous girl had found her way out of the room and was already engaged in a full on wrasslin’ match with the resident dogs.
While we’re glad that Thalia is already showing her marvelous personality, we know that the next few months won’t be all fun and games for her. She is very thin and heartworm positive; she will need several weeks of treatment and rest. There also appears to be something wrong with her hind legs or possibly her back. She can run and play, but sometimes her hind legs suddenly give out, and it takes a little bit for her regain use of them. The first step in dealing with her legs will be to find a diagnosis and then learn what treatment will help her live the best possible life.
