You win some, you lose some. Sherlock was one of the Manitoba 6, a half dozen dogs who came to us from the same breeder last year. Cleaned up, socialized, given some crate rest and medical attention for his bad neck, Sherlock went sniffing off into the sunset to spend his last years as a beloved pet.
Not so fast, there. Sherlock, like the fictional character who fell into Reichenbach Falls and was presumed gone forever, has made a return! He injured his back and his adopter couldn't handle the requirements of rehabilitation, so back to FBRN he came! He's undergoing some tests and being kept quiet for the time being so as not to further aggravate his injury. Let's take advantage of Sherlock's case to stress that if your Frenchie goes down in the back or begins limping or dragging a foot, you must not lose a moment in getting your dog to the vet. And then you must follow the vet's advice to the letter to avoid expensive surgeries and testing. Even so, your dog may need to have surgery to prevent permanent paralysis. Time is absolutely of the essence! Don't wait until after work. Don't wait a week and see. Your dog must go immediately to the vet if this happens.
His foster family is happy to see him and so are his pugglesome foster siblings, who enjoy playing the role of multiple Watsons to Sherlock's main character. As you may know, all French bulldogs are the main characters in any story in which they may appear, however briefly.
Sherlock's MRI is going to be pricey. If you'd like to kick in toward the cost of his testing, please click on his photo and help us solve the mystery of Sherlock's injury.
