"Lovely Rita meter maid,

where would I be without you?

Give us a wink and make me think of you"

With a little help from the Beatles, we are welcoming one of our newest foster frogs, Rita. Rita has had a tough life. She is about 6-7 years old and came from a free whelping breeding facility. As you may have guessed, she has not been well cared for at all, receiving only oral ivermectin in the way of medical care. What a horrible beginning for our lovely Rita.

Rita has a host of medical issues that her foster family will be addressing. She has had chronic untreated ear infections and her bat ears no longer stand up. She lost her left eye, we don't know how, but we do know it was not removed under a vet's care. She is due to be spayed, and she also has an umbilical hernia, bad dental disease, corneal scarring, early cataracts, a mild infection between her toes from standing on that horrible wire caging and she is underweight. We cannot underscore enough the horrors of puppy mills, please educate yourself and your friends about them! Dogs like Rita do not deserve to suffer these and worse problems.

Rita has not let life's challenges get her down. She remains upbeat and ready to face her challenges and come out on the other side a new and improved frog. Her foster mom says she has lots of spunk and a natural brilliance about her. She will make a wonderful companion for someone.

We know times are very tough right now. Please take a look under the couch cushions, under the car seats and in your pockets and help us help Rita. She really needs the change!

Rita
