hospice dog
Regina is a senior Frenchie with a very sad story. Her owner has been very sick for the several years, so Regina was kept in a crate with an attached dog run. She had little or no human contact for five years. Recently her owner passed away and a Good Samaritan took Regina into her home. The Good Samaritan helped Regina as much as she could with good veterinary care and put her on antibiotics for ear, skin and urinary tract infections. She felt that FBRN was the best place for Regina's hospice care.
Regina is covered in tumors, large and small. During the veterinary examination, it was determined that Regina has an enlarged heart, three times the normal size. It was decided that Regina could not have any surgery. She has been let go for so long, there is nothing that can be done except to fight the infections and keep her pain free. In time, cancer will almost certainly end her life.
Her foster mom has already fallen in love with her. She will care for her, spoil her and keep her comfortable for as long as Regina's body lets her stay with us. And when the time comes to say goodbye, Regina will go to the Rainbow Bridge in loving arms while someone tells her she is a good dog.
