Poor Ralphie! Following an accident, Ralphie underwent surgery to repair the damage to his spine, but his surgery didn't take and he's been in a cart ever since. He made the move from a posh NYC life to being one of the boys in a rural setting, and he's having the time of his life with the five other dogs he gets to zoom around with in his foster home.
Ralphie is especially loving the leaves and chasing around on the grass. He has no notion that he's disabled; in fact, he seems to get better speed with his back end slung up and out of the way!
We are going to see if Ralphie can get some benefit from hydrotherapy. We have some hope for him, since he has bowel continence, but needs assistance urinating. His foster mom is figuring it out. Meanwhile, though she is experiencing a bit of a learning curve on the urinary expression, Ralphie is quick like a bunny figuring out the joys of a yard full of squirrel smells and fallen leaves and all the fascinating fragrances of the countryside.
