“Polka” is named for the polka dot markings on her back. Pulled from a shelter in Texas, Polka went straight to the vet. Polka is deaf and has a bad ear infection. She also has an old untreated pelvic fracture causing her to limp on that leg, which is unfortunate because her other hip is so dysplastic it’s barely in its socket. Fact is, Polka’s whole hind end is weak and a little catawampus. Could be some surgery coming up. On top of that, she has a particularly nasty skin infection, which is probably bacterial.

Ready for a little good news? Polka tested negative for demodectic mange and heartworm (yay!) and is an absolute angel. She eats and drinks and takes pills like a champ. At 21 lbs, Polka is very thin (she should be closer to 30.) She immediately developed a mad crush on her temporary foster poppa, and cried and hopped up and down when he left her behind in her x-pen to go to another room.

We hope to fix this baby up so she can dance with joy one day soon. To help with her veterinary expenses just click on her photo and say “You sure can polka, dot!”
