hospice dog
Say hello to PD, the most recent addition to the FBRN family. PD was tearfully surrendered by his previous owner because of financial difficulties. PD had been with his previous owner since he was a puppy – he is now 9 years old. What a difficult decision it must have been for his previous owner to surrender him! We will do our absolute best to make sure this special boy finds the perfect forever home.
PD has some skin issues and seems to have chronic ear issues as well. About 4 years ago, his previous owner reports that he was sprayed in the face with a chemical that burned his mouth and eyes. Due to this, PD is blind in one eye and has only partial vision in the other, as well as suffering from dry eye. Everything that could be done to treat the eye was done at the time.
PD is slowly settling into his foster home, but he was understandably stressed at first. His foster mom reports that he is learning the routine and doesn't seem to be a real active fellow (unless the vacuum cleaner comes out!) PD's medical evaluation revealed that his left eye is definitely visionless and has zero tear production, while his right eye has about 25% vision and much better tear production. Foster mom will be diligently administering eye drops daily. We are happy to report that PD is heartworm negative! However, he does have arthritis in his lower back, resulting in weak and sometimes wobbly rear movement. PD also has bladder stones that will need to be surgically removed.
If you could spare some change to help out an older gentleman in need, please click on PD's picture to the right and sponsor him. Until he's ready for the available page, PD will be living the laid-back life in foster care and waiting for his perfect forever family! |
