This little darling was saved from an awful puppy mill situation, where she was being bred for profit. As with most of these kinds of operations, sweet Myrtle was not taken care of at all, had little to no socialization, and was viewed as nothing more than a cash cow. We are so grateful that we were able to bring her in to FBRN so she can feel the comfort of a cozy bed, the warmth of a loving touch, and learn what it is to have the life of a cherished pet.
It was late at night when an FBRN volunteer went to pick up this sweet girl and another lucky survivor from their awful situation. On the way back, the two girls didn’t make a sound. It’s the mournful silence of dogs who are confused, scared, and unsure about what their future will hold.
Myrtle has been a mother many, many times over and has figured out how to care for herself in her five years of neglect. Unfortunately, because she received little care from her owners, Myrtle is left with some health issues that we will need to address. The volunteer who rescued Myrtle says she just looks tattered and torn. It’s just not right that such a delicate soul was neglected for so long. She is too thin, and has a bad eye. Her little back legs are bowed and do not work quite right. We’ll have Myrtle in to see the vet as soon as possible and will provide updates about her progress.
The good news is that she ate a good meal and had her first comfortable night on a warm, fuzzy blankie. Myrtle deserves the best that life has to offer after her rough beginning. And she wants to live. She endured a lot to get to where she is now, and she certainly still has challenges ahead, but we know she will become a wonderful family pet. Please find it in your heart to give. Myrtle promises you won’t regret it. |
