Update 4/2/08

Mickie has had 3 seizures since coming into FBRN's care. He was a pet store puppy, and had seizures when he was first brought home, but they abated. Following the stress of his neuter and the move to a foster home, he has experienced a recurrence of the seizures. Here's what his foster mom says: "The vet put Mickie on a low dose of Phenobarbital because he had his 3rd seizure last Saturday, so the Valium didn't seem to be working. He'll go back for bloodwork in 30 days to check the level of Phenobarb in his system, make sure his liver is ok, etc. It's only been 4 days of the Phenobarb, but so far so good. Of course we can't observe him while we're at work, but we're hoping for the best. This little guy has absolutely stolen my husband's heart! He has to hold and cuddle Mickie when he's having a seizure because it's so pitiful. "Do you think he knows I'm trying to help him?" he asks. Then Mickie will come out of it and look at Herb with those big brown adoring eyes! Mia is the clown...hops like a bunny when she's playing, they're both a hoot!"

Welcome, the M and M couple to our Foster page. Mia and Mickie aren't siblings, but they are inseparable, and we are honoring the request of their human mom to place them as an adoptable pair of frenchie cuteness. Three year-old Mia is the older sister, and Mickie is the two year-old baby brother. Mia is wearing the pretty brindle coloring and Mickie is the flashy pied. We haven't had much time to learn the personalities of the couple, but we do know they are fitting well into foster care with the resident dogs. They have been approved by the occasionally grumpy resident English bulldog, and that says a lot.

Mia and Mickie have been seen by the vet, and will be returning for their spay and neuter appointments and a little checking into their medical histories. We believe they are both healthy and happy. We are hoping this pair can make their way to the adoption page in a short time, moving ahead with new lives with their forever family. Please check back for updated information or perhaps a peek at their darling faces listed on the Available Dogs page. If you would like to help sponsor these babies as they move towards their bright future, please click on their photo and tell us it's for M and M!
