Marshmellow's vet discovered a problem from which Marshmellow could not recover. His foster mom hld him in her arms while he was humanely euthanized. Please read his memorial here.
We are always looking for help for our foster dogs, but we know this time you will agree that Marshmellow deserves as much help as he can get. Marshmellow is as sweet as his name, which is amazing considering he has been sick since he was only 1 month old. He is now 11 months old. This poor baby has had chronic diarrhea and has already had one surgery to repair a prolapsed rectum. It hurts just to think about it. But it doesn’t end there. After his surgery, Marshmellow was still having chronic diarrhea, couldn’t gain weight and had very thin fur. His owners were unable to afford further medical care and relinquished him to their vet. Realizing this boy needed specialized care, the vet clinic called upon FBRN.
Marshmellow has since had a colonoscopy, which has revealed that his small intestines are inflamed, and a biopsy was done. Further, poor Marshmellow has a stricture in his colon, which makes his colon about the size of a pencil, resulting in pain and straining while defecating. Poor Marshmellow. This little fellow has really been through the wringer. Marshmellow needs to have a procedure which will result in the dilation of his colon wall; the catch here is he needs to have it 4 times at a cost of $400 each time. He also needs to be neutered.
We know that times are tough for everyone, and it’s hard to keep reading stories like this, but Marshmellow has never really had a shot at the normal happy life all puppies deserve. He is a sweet, sweet pup who has been dealt an unfortunate hand. We hope some of our supporters will be able to help us get the care that Marshmellow deserves. The wonderful guy will make his forever family very happy, we just need to help him get there.
