“Isn’t she Lovely?” crooned the vet, his staff, and the other pet owners in the waiting room. Yes indeed. Lovely basked in the chorus of kind voices telling her she was sweet and beautiful and would soon be feeling much, much better.
The shelter called FBRN because they knew we would do everything we could to help her. The name she had been given by her previous owners meant “irritable” although this girl is anything but. Never mind the advanced case of Demodex Mange, the ribs poking through her skin, the raw and infected itchies, the feces-stained e-collar she was wearing when she was dropped off at the shelter—this lovely creature is gentle, trusting, and playful. Lovely craves human attention and responds to the tender touches as if she was in full belly rub heaven. Lovely tries really, really hard to sit still for a treat, but her puppy butt wiggles in excitement!
Lovely is being cared for by a veteran rescuer who has nursed many sick and unwanted dogs into new lives as cherished pets. Lovely plays with the resident pug and Shih-Tzu and is fascinated with toys. The e-collar comes off so that Lovely can frolic freely while Foster Mama keeps an eye on her to prevent any scratching. “You’re a doll,” she tells Lovely, who takes in every word.
Lovely has begun what will be a slow recovery from a diagnosis of demodex mange and secondary infections. If you’d like to sponsor Lovely, please click on her picture to the right, and share your notes of support with her, too. Your love makes her Lovely: “Isn’t she lovely, made from love…” |
