Six-year-old Kale was surrendered by his loving owners who could no longer afford the cost of his veterinary issues and were concerned that he was spending too much time alone. We appreciate their selflessness in giving up their beloved pet so that he could find a solution for his itchy, yeasty skin in a home that can spend lots of time with him. Kale has allergies, and all the searching thus far has not been able to figure out why. We’ll continue the investigation with help from experienced veterinarians, probably including a veterinary dermatologist. Currently Kale is on a new diet and new medications, and he seems to be showing some signs of relief. He is already neutered (yay!) and housebroken (woohoo!) so once we get these allergies sorted out and his hair grows back in a bit, he’ll be right as rain.
Kale is definitely a momma’s boy! He wants to be with the humans and he will howl (the infamous Frenchie death wail!) if he can hear people when he is locked in his crate or separated in another room. He has gotten along with some of the dogs in his foster home but is unwilling to share the toys so far. He is willing to use his sticky-outtie-tongue for maximum cuteness overload during photo shoots. Can you see in the picture how he could just wrap people right around his little paw?
The bills from the vet are piling up faster than the snow in Pennsylvania. Can you grab a shovel and pitch in to help? Click on Kale’s picture to send him a donation and tell him that you know that Kale is always sweeter after the frost. |
