Please join us in welcoming Jean-Luc to FBRN! Jean-Luc is an itchy, itchy boy. His family sadly surrendered him to our care when they were told by their vet that despite multiple attempts to treat his allergies, none of which brought relief, nothing more could be done to help the boy. To say that Jean-Luc is quite uncomfortable in his skin may be an understatement! He’s got a raw and painful case of that common Frenchie ailment, those dreaded allergies. Jean-Luc is blessed to be in the hands of one of our extremely dedicated volunteers who is as stubborn as a Frenchie when it comes to her determination to help the itchy frogs of FBRN! To help Jean-Luc settle in his first night, she tenderly gave him a Malaseb bath, administered a dose of Atopica, and wrapped him up in clothes and socks to keep him from scratching too badly. There will be quite a bit of activity in Jean-Luc’s future, including a trip to see the dermatologist, scratch tests, and diet changes, but at the moment he is snoring peacefully in a comfy dog bed in his new striped pajamas and baby socks.
Jean-Luc’s foster mom describes that Jean-Luc’s inflamed skin hasn’t interfered with his friendly demeanor towards people, dogs, and cats. He gets along beautifully with the resident Boxers in his foster home, and his foster mom describes him as “a gentle soul.” She has also created a Twitter account for Jean-Luc, which will be regularly updated with information about his progress as well as his setbacks (as treating allergies takes time, persistence, and often involves several approaches): https://twitter.com/JeanLuc_FBRN We hope Jean-Luc will find some comfort soon, and we know that to make this happen, the pretty boy is going to cost a pretty penny!
