hospice dog

Note from her Foster mama: Goldie is an elderly little lady of 12 years. She lost her owner, who was also an elderly lady of 83. Her next of kin couldn't keep her, so they did the next best thing and gave her to FBRN. She really missed her Mom and her home for quite some time, and lost some weight, not feeling like eating much. However she is beginning to pick up her life again. She gets so excited when dinner is served, even dancing on her hind leg. She gobbles all of her food in no time. She is fed behind a baby gate so that her foster siblings can't eat her food, and so that she won't gobble theirs. She has her own big ottoman with a step. She is going to take up again her position as Queen. At first she used to stand on her ottoman looking down at the other dogs and growl at any one who came too close. She has the funniest little growl, she sounds like "eh-eh-eh-eh-eh". Now she just growls at Little Man (who is one of the least aggressive Frenchies around.) Maybe it is because he is so big (45 lbs). When she is down on the ground with the others, she doesn't growl at anybody. She has never had puppies, but she is trying to mother 3 kittens being fostered. She won't take her eyes off of them whenever they are allowed to roam. She wants to lick them and even lifts them up a bit with her nose so she can lick their tummies. She may not have ever seen a cat before, since she was strictly an inside dog and very spoiled. She is in need of some serious dental care, but her liver enzymes are high and the vet has put her on special food, hoping to get those values down. She also has a lump on her neck that the vet wants to biopsy. He tried aspirating it, but that was inconclusive.

Goldie likes to get attention like "Right Now!" As soon as she finishes her food, she starts the Frenchie "Death Wail", even before her foster mom has a chance to sit down. At bedtime, if her foster mom is sitting on the bed facing away from her, it's the Death Wail. In the middle of the night, if her foster mom goes into the bathroom and Goldie can't see her, its the Death Wail! Other than that, she's a pretty cool little lady. She doesn't mind sharing her ottoman with her foster puppy brother, Pooter, or her foster sisters Pixie and Truffles. She likes to go for walks and is very good on a leash.
