Gemma came to us seemingly paralyzed. Her previous owners said they did not know the cause, but their vet advised them her condition wouldn't benefit from surgery. Her family loved her, sought help when they saw a problem and did the best they could for her before surrendering her to FBRN. She gets around on wheels, but her foster mom noticed that she does have feeling in her back legs and can stand if put in the right position. She has some bladder control, and sometimes moves her back legs a little. Gemma's new doc thinks that physical therapy will help a lot, and that over time and with PT she could probably walk again.

Gemma will be going to physical therapy while she is in foster care to see what can be done to help her mobility. We want to see her walk again! If you'd like to help her take those first steps, click on her picture and become Gemma's sponsor and friend!
