Duke (and his companion Puddy) were surrendered by their family because of frequent relocation (military career) and the addition of a little person to their human family. At three years old Duke was the neutered baby sibling to Puddy. Duke is smallish, timid, shy and awfully sweet. In his former environment Duke didn't have the chance to become his own dog. His submissive nature and lack of self-confidence put him in the backseat to the other, more dominant dog in the household. Now that Duke is being fostered away from Puddy, we will attempt to balance the scales, hoping for Duke to gain self-confidence and a little backbone so that he can be independent and happy on his own.
Duke will need to be monitored closely for health related issues. He is severely allergic to fleas, so a flea preventative and frequent flushing and cleaning of his ears are recommended as he is prone to yeast infections. He requires a little maintenance, but is worth all the effort keeping him comfortable and healthy.
Duke could use your vote of confidence. If you like to root for the underdog, consider sponsoring Duke. He'll appreciate it!
