UPDATED:
Cypress, our teeny, weenie brindle boy has encountered another emergency and we wanted to update all the sponsors and people who love him.
In August, Cypress started wheezing badly. At the ER clinic, rhinoscopy was performed and a mass encircling his pharynx was found. They debulked it and sent a tissue sample for biopsy; thankfully, it came back negative for cancer. Unfortunately, the mass is still in his throat, because there is no simple surgery to remove the mass. The only option is surgery from the front of his neck, to perform a permanent trach. Currently Cypress is taking prednisone to help with the condition and we are waiting and watching. This isn't welcome news for a little guy who certainly deserves a change in luck and seems to have more medical issues than many puppies have toys. His fontanelle isn't completely closed, so care is always taken to prevent him from bumping his noggin. He has kyphosis of the spine which leaves him incontinent of urine and stool and an unusual gait. He may never mature to think as an adult dog. And now this mass in his throat. We wonder how many issues our baby brindle may face?
Cypress has an exceptional loving Frenchie foster family where he is treasured for who he is. He runs and plays with the best of the pack enjoying every day and every new experience. He is and will remain a puppy at heart and maybe that isn't a bad thing. Small and puppy like, he is rocked to sleep each evening and carried to the big bed where he snuggles with his foster family and dreams of new adventures.
Please continue checking for updates on Cypress and many of the other foster Frenchies whose care is made possible by the people who love and sponsor them.
Cypress, a diminutive new foster from the state of Mississippi, is tiny, tiny, tiny. He's nine months old but only weighs 8 pounds. Cypress has an open fontanelle, which is the soft spot that allows babies heads to go through the birth canal. Normally these harden up as a baby grows but Cypress's remains soft. He has some neurological issues and has an awkward gait. The vet thinks he may have some mental deficiencies as well, but one thing that is clearly 100% right with this froglet is his CHARISMA gene.
The puparazzi are already following him around. His foster mom has been slammed down speechless with love, and we think other victims may soon follow.
Keep a good thought for this wee wobbler. He has an appointment with a specialist later this month.
