Dulcinea is now on the available page!
Please join us in welcoming Can Can & Dulcinea to FBRN’s care! This pair was surrendered to us by a breeder who hoped that FBRN could treat their medical issues and find them a good home. Can Can & Dulcinea were transported by one of FBRN’s volunteers to their new foster home, and so far they’ve been settling in and showing off a little bit more of their personalities each day. The two love to run in the dog pen and observe everything that is going on. Foster Mama breathes a sigh of relief that there aren’t any mounds or hills in the pen—she is sure that if Dulcinea tripped, her round self might go tumbling down like a boulder (just like in the cartoons)! Can Can, on the other hand, will need to gain the weight that Dulcinea needs to lose.
It’s not just weight management camp that these two need—unfortunately, there is a long road ahead for these two as they undergo many medical procedures and vet visits in order to be eventually adopted into a loving home. The most urgent issue is that both girls have heartworm; treatment for this potentially deadly disease includes medication that is often hard to tolerate and many weeks of crate rest. Can-Can has the “cauliflower” growth in her ears and tilts her head to the side, and Dulcinea’s ears are also infected. Can-Can also seems to have a problem with her hips, which will need to be X-rayed. Both girls have dermatitis and rotten teeth that will need extracting.
Can-Can and Dulcinea’s foster mama will be administering meds, planning their diets, supervising their crate rest, and more—why not join her efforts to help these two on their road to good health and, eventually, a loving home? You too can help take care of Can-Can and Dulcinea—to sponsor them, just click on their photo to the right to drop some change or a roll of bills in their bucket. Every dollar you can spare (even one!) will cover the costs of heartworm treatment, spays, X-rays, dental surgery and antibiotics. Can-Can and Dulcinea’s foster mama promises to tell these two about all the people rooting for their recovery! |
