Blaze has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

Blaze is not so tall, but he is dark and handsome. This boy’s good looks haven’t brought him much fortune until now. He was used as a breeder and was going to be euthanized once the breeder was done using him.

Luckily, a Good Samaritan stepped in and offered to take the dog so that his life would be spared. She recently contacted FBRN and we agreed we’d try to help this blue boy.

Poor Blaze has some of the worst breathing problems that his experienced foster mom has ever seen. His sides heave as he fights for every single breath he takes. The Good Samaritan witnessed him passing out a few times when the breathing got especially difficult due to heat or excitement.

After Blaze’s initial vet visit, it’s estimated that his soft palate is approximately twice as long as is normal for a dog his size. He was put on a course of anti inflammatory drugs to help subdue the swelling before going into surgery to shorten the palate. At this point it seems that his heart is strong, but there may be some issues with his knee caps.

Despite all these hardships, Blaze is a sweetheart and was even a perfect gentleman, calmly enduring all the poking and prodding at the vet’s office without any complaint.

Please consider sponsoring Blaze who is being fostered in Missouri. His medical expenses are already piling up and will be sky high with his upcoming surgery. We believe he’s well worth it, even as we humbly ask for your help yet again. You can sponsor him and leave him a love note by clicking on his picture to the right.
