Such a precious boy, this Bekham! Not to be confused with the soccer star, he is an adorable little pied frog. Busy and good-natured as they come, he shyly blushes when sweet talked. Seven years old and intact, Bekham suffers from urinary and bowel incontinence. He was sadly surrendered by his original owner when the recent arrival of a human baby made his leakage intolerable. Not to worry, little man. Your new foster momma is very experienced and loving. You are in the best of hands.

Quick as can be, Bekham was whisked to the vet. The findings provided a starting point for getting him on the path towards feeling much better and maybe not so leaky. His x-rays did not show any active back disease, but he does have a two luxating patellae (kneecaps that pop in and out) that are likely the cause of his funny walk. We will keep watching him closely to make sure he is not in pain.

His urinary incontinence has been treated with Proin, but he also seems to have a urinary infection that has been around a while judging from his smelly output. In a helpful lab there is a little Petri dish where Bekham’s urine is being cultured to see what kick-butt antibiotic we need to kill the serious beasties that ail him. His ever supportive foster mom praises him when he goes outside in the dirt, admiring his pee pee drawings in the sand and calling him her “little wiz-ard”. She says they are extraordinary displays of talent!

Minor in the scheme of things, Bekham also has a handful of other complaints. His cherry eye that pops in and out is being treated with an ointment. Plus, he really needs dental work and to be relieved of his jewels. The latter will likely quell his habit of humping other dogs.

Losing the only home he had ever known sent Bekham scuttling under his foster mom’s bed for the first few days. But his foster sister, an FBRN grad, is skilled at making displaced Frenchies feel at home. Within a few days he was in his rightful place on top of the bed. He now burrows under the covers, emerging in the night to rest his head on the pillows. His buzz-saw snoring enthralls anyone lucky enough to call on the phone at bedtime.

Beckham is a thoroughly funny and endearing little frog. He needs a chance to get the care that he needs to be as healthy as possible and find a new family who will love him always. Please, please give what you can. Your generosity is so appreciated!
