Please welcome our newest foster frog! Banks’ name means "edge of the river" and it suits this boy perfectly because he loves to drink water. His elderly owner was concerned that she couldn’t give him the care that he needed, and we are happy to welcome Banks to the FBRN family.
Banks is eleven or twelve years old, and his foster parents describe him as “an absolute gentleman.” He’s almost completely blind and has a pretty serious case of cornea edema with his one remaining eye. Besides being near-blind, he is just about deaf too. His foster parents brought Banks to the vet, who referred him to an ophthalmology specialist. We hope that his eye can be saved, and we’ll find out more after his appointment. Once his eye problems can be assessed and treated, Banks will need some dental work—it looks as if several of his teeth will need extracting.
Banks is undergoing a change in diet and exercise in foster care. He is a whopping 40 pounds! Banks is naturally large for a Frenchie, but he should not be this heavy. His foster family is feeding him healthy foods and is hoping to increase his exercise level once he has had more time to settle into his foster home.
Banks is spends a lot of time in his crate for now; he seems to feel safe there. Banks also really likes the crate fan blowing on him. The river and a breeze, now that’s a good combination, he says from the comfort of his soft bed! Banks is adjusting to his new environment, but because of his limited vision bumps into things when he wanders. Banks loves affection and does the body wiggles when you stroke him. He just recently sat on the couch with his foster mom, who he decided needed a bath, and so he licked her all over. Banks’ foster mom didn’t mind his stinky breath; she was very glad to see him happy and content.
Banks will need a lot of vet care to treat his remaining eye and to fix his toofs. He is a dear sweet creature and we have promised him that he will get the care that he needs to be as healthy as he can be, and he will be loved for his remaining years. Can you spare a little silver for this distinguished gentlemanly frog’s care as he adjusts to his new life? Banks will send you licks from his crate if you do. |
