Please welcome Aiyana to FBRN! A Good Samaritan rescued Aiyana from Craigslist, and not a moment too soon. You can see the very skinny Aiyana below, which was taken upon arrival in her Good Samaritan's home. Another picture shows Aiyana after a month of good food and regular meals! In addition to getting some good nutrients into this bony—and hungry!—girl, the Good Samaritan also vetted her, where it was discovered Aiyana was heartworm positive. Aiyana's Good Samaritan saw Aiyana through the first stage of her transition from a skinny, hungry dog to her life as a cherished pet, and we are more than happy to continue Aiyana on her journey to her forever home!
During her lengthy road trip to transport her from her Good Samaritan to her foster home, Aiyana charmed all the FBRN volunteers that she met. It didn't take long for this sweet girl to bond with her volunteer transporters—many found that saying goodbye to their new charge to be harder than they expected! Fortunately, extra time was allotted to the itinerary so that volunteers and Aiyana could give goodbye kisses and pose for pictures before handing her to the volunteers driving the next leg of her transport.
Aiyana's first HW treatment is scheduled and will include ongoing vet visits, regular injections and lots of rest time. Her foster family is working with her on housetraining—she is catching on quickly! Aiyana's already made friends with the resident Frenchie and has taken to snuggling with her foster pops. Foster mama admits she was also quickly smitten with Aiyana—and really, who could resist her sweetness and those soulful eyes?
Aiyana has made huge strides from her days as an emaciated pup, and will be ready to join her forever home soon, but first she'll need to continue her weight gain and successfully complete her heartworm treatment.
