Addison has crossed the Rainbow Bridge
Please join us in welcoming Addison to FBRN! Addison is about 5-6 years old and has one eye, and was purchased from Craigslist by someone who does pug rescue. Addison’s new mom took her to the vet, where she was prescribed medications to treat her dry eye, and also had a dental to remove several of her rotten teeth. After several attempts at changing Addison’s behavior of fighting with the pugs, her mom decided that she would do best in the care of FBRN. We are very grateful that Addison was cared for by her first mom, and we promise that we’ll get Addison into the best shape possible and find her a loving and permanent home.
Since entering FBRN’s care, Addison has undergone surgery to shorten her elongated palate and to widen her nares. Addison’s foster mom has cared for many, many FBRN fosters, including several with special medical needs, but Addison’s breathing may have been the worst she’s ever seen (and heard.) It has especially delighted her to see a new energetic Addison emerge since her surgery! But, tests have also revealed that Addison has less than 40% vision in her remaining eye, and the vet doesn’t expect that she will regain her vision beyond 50%. Addison is scheduled for a re-check in another week, but for now, she is wiggling around and taking long, full breaths for the first time.
Addison will need several more trips to the vet to fully assess and possibly treat her remaining eye, and may need to undergo training to adapt to her very limited vision.
