Take a peek, this is Zeek. He is a young, active dog who is hankerin’ for that perfect family to scoop him up and take him home. He is a most lovable dog, who gives gentle nose nibbles and greets all people with an open paw. He is confident that everyone loves him. And, handsome little beastie that he is, they do.
Zeek is the consummate go-to-work dog, accompanying his foster mom to her job in a big office building every day. He goes from office to office greeting his co-workers. If he doesn’t show up, they come seek him out calling for their “Zeek Break”. He doesn’t bark or cause any problems. Even the folks in the mail room know and love him. Unlike your average couch potato Frenchie, Zeek likes to be active. If he is not at work, he likes to ride in the car, go for runs and walks, visit people or do zoomies around the house. After a busy day, he will settle in for some couch time and snuggles. And like many of us who work hard, he loves to sleep in. Not an early riser, he will slumber soundly until it is time to go to work.
Not entirely perfect, Zeek does have some quirks and he needs a very special home. He is aggressive with other dogs, and so must be an only child. He also has severe separation anxiety. When he goes to work, he gets anxious when his foster mom is out of her office. She will leave him with co-workers whom he loves, but he still frets until she returns. On the rare occasion when he cannot accompany her to work, he must be kept in a very sturdy crate. If left out in the house, he will damage things and hurt himself. Although housebroken, he will soil his crate if left too long. A really great trainer might be able to work with Zeek to resolve this problem, but since we are not sure if that can be accomplished, we must insist that Zeek go to a family who is either has someone home most of the time or who can continue with his go-to-work routine.
Zeek is mostly a sweet, sweet boy who only shows possessiveness when he has one of his beloved chewy bones. He willingly shares everything else, and loves to play with squeaky toys. But, he is a strong minded bully who thinks he is the boss of things. He will need a family with strong leadership skills and dog experience who can keep this tendency in check. Obedience school would be a very good experience for him and his new guardians to share.
If Zeek were imagining his picture perfect home it would a nice big house, with a large fenced yard and some sturdy kids to wear him out every day. He’s a big bruiser, so very small children might get bowled over in his play. Mom would stay home to keep him company during the day and together they would go pick up the kids from school.
Generally healthy, Zeek had a slipped disk in his neck when he was younger. Now, he is in great shape and has not had any problems while in foster care. Zeek’s foster mom is quite enamored with her youthful charge, telling us, “I can’t imagine who wouldn’t want this loving dog. He is truly your best friend, companion, and protector. Everyone who meets him says they never met a dog with the character he has. He will always be at your side, whatever you are doing – truly man’s best friend. How can you pass up that face?”
If you have the character to keep up with this character, submit your application for Zeek today. Then zipper up, and start your engine. Zeek is waiting in Ohio and will not be shipped.
