Wishy has been diagnosed with a malignant tumor. He will remain with his foster family for the time that remains for him. We are very grateful for your good wishes and prayers for Wishy, and we are also grateful to his foster family for seeing him through to the Rainbow Bridge.

Wishy is a robust and lively 9-year-old frog looking for a forever home where he can unpack his suitcase one last time. He’s looking for a family where he’ll be loved and doted on and where there’ll be many scratches behind the ears and belly rubs in the years ahead.
Wishy's skin, eyes and ear are improving with medicine and regular cleaning. His right eye needs drops daily, and his ears require gentle cleaning every 3-4 days. Along with a high quality diet, wiping down his face wrinkles and weekly baths will keep his skin improving over time.
Because Wishy was never properly socialized, he prefers to be an only dog. He completely ignores the resident dogs in his foster home and really prefers alone time with the humans.
Guarding his food and people are two of Wishy’s less attractive qualities. He doesn’t like it when his people give other dogs attention and has bitten on two occassions during his foster home stay. In both cases, children were petting the resident dogs when Wishy bit the hand in an attempt to separate person and dog. He broke skin but neither injury required stitches. Though he loves children, we cannot in good conscience place him with a family with kids. Wishy will not be placed in a home with children or where children will be frequent visitors.
Wishy loves people, and his bites were out of character, but he simply seemed unable to cope with sharing attention with other dogs. For these reasons, Wishy would be best as an only dog.
This big boy would do well in any family that can give him lots of love. He is starved for attention after so many years as a breeder, and simply wants to spend time with people. He doesn’t require a lot of exercise, but will happily go for a walk around the neighborhood or jump in the car for a car ride.
While Wishy is housetrained, he is still in the habit of marking. He is also crate-trained and this is the best way to avoid marking while his people are out of the house.
He craves human attention and ideally would join a home where someone can be around most of time it doesn’t matter if it’s an apartment or house. Otherwise, he would adjust and be happy with a midday visit from a dog walker.
Here’s a word from his foster mom:
"You'll fall in love with Wishy from the moment he lifts his right paw to shake and greet you. He has a funny way of letting you know he wants to get to know you. When he's feeling playful, he'll run and jump outside from one garden to the next, rolling in the grass or ivy, or whatever he likes. He can do this for 15 minutes in the morning if you let him. He likes to get out in the morning and just romp around. He enjoys walks on a leash. He loves car rides, short and long. He's a good traveler. He loves his food. Wishy is a great Frenchie, full of fun and lots of love. He acts much younger than his 9 years of age."

If you’ve got a special spot in your heart for former breeder dogs, or want a mellow dog to add a little goofiness to your day, consider applying for Wishy. He’s located in Eastern Texas and will not be shipped.

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Except in rare or unusual cases, adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. In rare or unusual cases, FBRN may be able to assist in transporting a dog to a volunteer near the adopter's home, but the expense of transporting the dog must be the responsibility of the adopting party.
