Trudy and her partner in crime were surrendered when they killed their family's favorite kitty. FBRN has split them up to try to break up their own little Murder, Inc. As most people know, any dog can be dangerous to another animal, but bulldog breeds have high prey drives to start with. And sometimes when there is more than one dog, they can operate as a pack, and, just as we see it happen in people, when a pack mentality descends, even the sweetest and most unassuming of creatures can become unrecognizably venal and violent. Needless to say, we won't place Trudy in a home with smaller animals. She's a dominant girl, so she should be placed with dogs her size or larger who are willing to be bossed around.
We don't know how she is with youngsters, but older kids or teens would probably be ok.
Trudy's a healthy girl, and she's housebroken and she's grudgingly crate trained. She's had no obedience training, but she should go to school and learn some manners. It might help with her superiority complex.
Here's what her foster mom said about Trudy's personality: "Trudy is a little clown. She loves to grab a stuffed toy and run as fast as she can all over the yard. Once this is complete she will jump into the baby pool for a cool-down. Then it's time to roll all over the grass to dry off. She will go for walks, but doesn't seem to need them. She can jump very high for a dog her size! She likes to be right next to me whenever I am sitting down (along with everyone else). She will cuddle with my other dogs, too. Loves to play with my foster Pug. They are best buddies. She would love to dominate her people, too. Has to be first in line for hugs when I come home from work."
Trudy is cute, but she's got some quirks. In the spirit of full disclosure we have to tell you she has staked out t he area under the kitchen table as her own little den. "Trudy likes to guard the area under the kitchen table. Nobody else is allowed under there when she is there. She will bark nonstop until you put her food in front of her at mealtime. She is possessive of her nylabone at times." Trudy believes she is the bossÑwe'd like a family for her who will gently but firmly cause her to rethink this belief!
Trudy loves the yard and pool, so we would like a privacy fenced home for her. If her family goes to work, a midday walk would be nice.
Her foster mom says: "Trudy has been a special addition to our home these past few months. I love her sturdy little legs, her perky ears, and her beautiful smile. She loves giving kisses. She will romp and play and then plop down on the floor with her legs all flat out. She's a great sleeping and cuddling companion. I'm hopeful that she can find a family who will appreciate her sense of humor. She loves to show off for you. She was our first experience with Frenchies and we've loved having her in our home."
Trudy is soaking in the pool or basking froggily in the Ohio sun. Adopters should plan to pick her up there, because she will not be shipped.
