There are famous folks with the name Tito -- a socialist, a slugger and a singer. Then there is FBRN’s big handsome Tito. He is a famously charming, super special frog waiting to be your true companion. One thing that can be said about our Tito, is that he is Smaaaaart with a capital “S”. He learned his foster home’s routine very quickly and he likes to entertain by dancing and giving high fives all around. He knows basic commands and will sit, stay, come or leave it. A calm, assertive leader will have a very good time teaching Tito more advanced skills. We can easily see him solving interactive doggie puzzles or learning to ring his own bell to go outside.

Surrendered when his original owners realized they did not have enough quality time to spend with him, Tito does not have good social skills with other dogs. His foster parents have been taking him to a socialization class, but he still needs to work on this. He will challenge dogs he meets on the street and is food aggressive toward other animals. This includes both dogs and cats, but not people. He has had two altercations with the resident cats while in foster care. So far, he has been the loser but why take a chance? No cats for Tito, please, and this dominant guy would really thrive as an only dog.

Tito figures he is enough dog to keep anyone happy, and he promises to do his very best to entertain. A high-energy chap, he needs at least one nice long walk every day and loves to roll around on the floor playing rough and getting growly. Fetch and tug are among his favorites, too. Older, dog-savvy children would have a blast playing with him, but he does not care for little children who lay all over him.

Because he spent too much time alone in his previous life, the perfect home for Tito would be with a family where there is someone home most of the time. He would also enjoy being your go-to guy at the office. It is so very companionable sharing your brown bag with someone nice like Tito. If he does need to wait at home for part of the day, he is very mannerly as he is both crate-trained and housebroken. He has been left out the crate for short periods in his foster home and did well. There is a good chance he could have the run of the house once he got comfy in his very own digs.

With daily walks, Tito could live in an apartment but he would really love a nice fenced yard to run around in. If there is a yard, it must be securely fenced. As you might expect, Tito has a very high prey drive and will get into big trouble if he escapes. Once he sees something he wants to chase, he gets into the zone where he will not focus or listen.

Tito’s foster family has enjoyed their time with him, telling us, “Tito is a fast learner and has learned our daily routines quickly. He knows that after breakfast and his morning walk he needs to get in his crate, and is sometimes waiting for me to close the door.”

“Tito is a love bug and at the end of the day he likes to lie next to you while you watch TV or are on the computer. He is eager to please. When we go to get ice cream he likes to sit in the front seat with the window cracked so he can stick his nose out the window and see where we are going. He is a good watchdog and will let you know when someone is at the door. As long as he gets a proper introduction he is fine with letting them in the house. I think as long as you keep working with him, he will show you how much of a joy he really is.”
