Teena Marie is a retired show dog and breeder whose owner encountered some health issues. Teena Marie was originally surrendered to a Good Samaritan who had her for only a month before turning her over to FBRN because Teena Marie was not getting along with their resident Frenchies. In foster care, we have seen that while Teena Marie doesn’t love all other dogs, she certainly adores people and will be a wonderful forever dog for the right person or family.

Teena Marie loves her people. She's happiest sitting right at your feet or in your lap! She is a curious little busybee who loves to investigate her surroundings. You would never guess she is six years old -- she seems much younger. She frisks and plays and generally keeps herself occupied and entertained. She will explore a fenced back yard if you are out there with her and likes her people to come out with her when she goes potty. She absolutely loves to go for walks. She does not need a fenced back yard and would be an excellent apartment dog. She does bark on occasion, but as long as there is not a lot of regular commotion in the home or in an apartment hallway, she would be fine. She does not need much in the way of exercise and is happy to be a lap dog the vast majority of the time. She can sometimes be underfoot because she just loves her people so much that she wants to be right next to them at all times. She is very adaptable -- she does great wherever she is. She's perfectly behaved in the car, at the vet, being bathed, having her nails trimmed, etc.

Teena Marie is very nervous around small children: she does not like crying or sudden, grabbing movements. She will not be placed with small children or in a home where small children often visit. She has had some limited exposure to older children (10+) and did not mind them at all.

Teena Marie seems to do well with cats, but not all dogs. She often reacts to other dogs so she will only be placed with submissive dogs. Applicants with dogs should note in the application how they plan to help her integrate into the pack. She has some dog aggression and toy/treat/people guarding issues. She responds well to correction but will need a firm hand if other dogs are in the home. She'd be very happy as an only dog.

Teena Marie is healthy! She has some very mild skin allergies. With a high quality, grain-free diet and some basic attention to hygiene, her skin is much improved. She is allergic to fleas. Her family will need to commit to vigilant year-round flea prevention. She is about 90% potty trained and rarely has accidents as long as she is kept on a schedule. She knows to do her business outside and always goes when you take her out. She hasn't fully mastered letting people know when she needs to go out but is making progress. Her current foster home is working on training her to use bells on the doorknob to signal when it's time to go out. She is completely crate trained and will not have an accident in her crate or in an x-pen. She needs a family that will commit to finishing her potty training and taking her out on a regular schedule until she is fully potty trained.

Teena Marie could go to work with her new owner as long as it is a quiet place with no other dogs. She would also be fine with a mid-day break from a dog walker. She loves small stuffies and squeaky toys. (She carries them around like babies.) She also loves chewies and antlers, so she could easily amuse herself in her x-pen during the day.

Her foster mom has enjoyed helping this little one on her journey. “Teena Marie is such a little love. She's sweet as can be and will make someone very, very happy. She is a gorgeous dog and she knows it. It's easy to imagine her as the show dog she once was. She absolutely loves to go for walks -- being on a lead puts some pep in her step and literally makes her smile.”

Teena Marie is fostering in Georgia. Her lucky forever family should plan on picking her up there.

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Except in rare or unusual cases, adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. In rare or unusual cases, FBRN may be able to assist in transporting a dog to a volunteer near the adopter's home, but the expense of transporting the dog must be the responsibility of the adopting party.
