Gentle people, rejoice! Spooky the Spectacular is available for adoption. Spooky is a two year old brindle Frenchie found as a stray. A shelter in Tennessee released him into FBRN's care.
On his arrival, Spooky had a stubborn case of demodectic mange. That problem is behind him, but like many Frenchies, Spooky does have some seasonal skin issues. He is not on any medication right now. His forever people will want to take good care of his skin and jump on any problems that might crop up. Otherwise, Spooky is a healthy, happy boy.
Far from being a scary kind of a hound, Spooky is a happy-go-lucky clown who gets along like gangbusters with people, cats and dogs. He loves to take walks around the block to get his "social networking" fix everyday. For exercise, he prefers rompin' and wrasslin' in the back yard with his canine foster siblings. Spooky LOVES to play and is proficient at fetch (can this really be a Frenchie?!) and is a demon at tug-o-war. In the house he will try to entice the other dogs in a match by dangling the tug-o-war toy in front of each one. If one isn't interested, he isn't deterred, he just moves on to his next victim! Spooky likes all friendly dogs -- size and sex are no issue for this open minded little beastie. He lives with kitties in his foster home, and he likes them, too.
Though he hasn't been around real small kids since he has been in our care, he did just great with those he met who were all over the age of seven. No temperament issues of any kind, and Spooky is housebroken and crate trained to boot. For a young stray, Spooky has quite the vocabulary! He knows "sit", "stay", "outside", "bone", "toy", "crate", and "go bye-bye!"
Spooky is a dream foster dog, and should be highly adaptable to a variety of household situations. We would prefer someone with some Frenchie experience, due to his skin issues. Of course, we'd love for him to have human company all day long, and Spooky would behave wonderfully in an office situation; but he's also fine in his crate for several hours, as long as he got a break during the day, so he'd be fine at home, too. He would love a social dog sibling, male or female, and a fenced yard is a plus as he loves to play! (He would also probably enjoy a friendly dog park if he lives in an urban setting.)
Here's what Spooky's foster mama has to say about him: "Sweet, sweet little man. Spooky loves to sleep under the covers and is like your own private heater. He always ends up with his head on the same pillow as mine but he doesn't snore much, so i have not kicked him out of the bed!"
If the sight of a sweet little Frenchie head on your pillow doesn't scare you, consider applying for Spooky today! He's in Central Arkansas and we won't ship him, so plan to show up in person and tell him "Go bye-bye, Spooky!"
