Please read the article on puppy mill dogs before you apply for Spirit.
Sweet, gentle Sprit is a treasure waiting to be discovered. She is a gentle companion who would love to join a like-minded human family for cozy times on the couch, pleasant jaunts around the neighborhood, or rides in the car. This is just the kind of girl Spirit is. She is not a hoyden reveling in boisterous games of fetch or jogging. If those things are your métier, Sprit is not your girl.
Don’t misunderstand, Spirit LOVES the dog park and playing with her toys. Nylabones and stuffies are favorites. In her own meticulous way, she dismembers the stuffies a little at a time savoring the experience. She is just a laid-back, good-natured dog who takes a little time to get the lay of the land in new surroundings. With patience, her new family will see her delightful personality emerge. She loves everyone and everything, thriving in the company of other dogs and is very devoted to the people she knows. She is a little fearful of cats and larger dogs, but can get used to them if her family is supportive.
If you work in a quiet office environment with mellow co-workers, Spirit is the go-to-work frog for you. She will greet any canines and humans cheerfully and then go to her own private bed. How much fun it would be to have Spirit join you for your commute! Pounding away at the keyboard solving the day’s problems wouldn’t be half bad with Spirit there by your side. She would gladly share your lunch and stay with you for mandatory OT.
Not so fortunate, and must go to work without her? She would do fine at home as well, but will need at least one mid-day break. She is crate and ex-pen trained and doesn’t fuss at all. A good schedule and fenced yard will help her stay on track with housebreaking. She’s quiet, you remember, and rarely barks. So, don’t count her to vocalize a plea to go out. She does send out signals, but you must read her doggy body language carefully. She walks beautifully on a leash, but is not fond of “going” on the leash. She really prefers to be outside in a fenced yard on her own searching for the p-e-r-f-e-c-t spot. But for exercise, she needs daily walks. She had a neck injury in the past, and good muscle tone will help prevent a reoccurrence. Because of that injury, Spirit should not go up and down stairs or jump off furniture.
Spirit would not take well to a household full of children and a hubbub of activity. Mature, quiet teens may appreciate her beauty. Her foster mom tells us fondly, “Spirit is a very laid-back dog who mostly wants to be with her people. She is a little nervous in new circumstances and will take a while to settle in, but once she does she becomes much more independent and playful. Her forever home will need to have patience while she does settle in.”
“She is a little nervous around larger dogs but greets all in a very friendly manner. She is not the least bit aggressive or prey driven. She would like to have at least one other gentle dog in her new home. She loves the companionship of other dogs and will play with them once she becomes comfortable around them. Spirit's forever home should consist of calm, assertive parents with patience to let her continue to develop her personality. Spirit is a nice, quiet dog who only wants to spend time with her people.”
If you are a prospector of possibilities and recognize Spirit’s potential, please apply for her today. Toronto is a lovely place to vacation, and that is where she is waiting patiently for her own loving home. Of course, we do not ship our Frenchies, so you will have to come to her.
