Feel like your life could use a little spicing up? Got some room for a bit of hot-cha-cha? Well, Spicy just may be your girl. Spicy, like many of our wonderful FBRN dogs, had a rough beginning and is looking forward to leaving all that behind her and embarking on the new adventure of the rest of her life.
Spicy came in looking and feeling kind of rough, wary from her tough start and bearing a few marks of neglect. Since coming into our care, Spicy has been spayed, had some benign lumps removed, and has had quite a bit of dental work. She is now a soft, shining, healthy, gleaming, toothless wonder!
Spicy knows she hit the jackpot and shows her appreciation with looks of adoration, playful moments, and the sweetest snuggling you ever could want. She sticks like glue to her person and wants nothing more in the world than to be close and be held. (Okay, maybe a belly rub and some scritching behind the ears, too.)
Spicy is housebroken, but she does need to be taken out often. She would do best with someone who could be home all the time or as a go-to-work dog. Spicy is very sweet and would love to accompany you to the office. She’d be happy to join the talk around the water cooler, help with some light clerical work, or just hang around looking gorgeous. Spicy does tend to panic in a crate, though, so she’d prefer a situation where she did not have to be crated.
Spicy is definitely sugar and spice and everything nice, but she has a few quirks. At first, she can be a bit wary of other dogs. Spicy likes to be in charge, so any dog introductions should be done gradually and responsibly. Spicy seems to prefer the company of other dogs like herself, so another Frenchie in the house would be divine, especially if the resident frog didn’t mind abdicating power a bit. Spicy has reacted with lunging and barking at strangers who get in her face and give direct eye contact. While her foster parents have not been able to replicate this reaction, potential adopters should be aware that they will need to keep strangers in check around this feisty lady. It’s just good manners, really. You wouldn’t get right up in a stranger’s face and stare them in the eye, and Spicy would like the same courtesy.
Although Spicy answers to her name, she does not have any formal obedience training. She’s still learning a lot about the good life, even though she’s already come a long way. Toys are still a bit beyond her, but she takes so much joy in the company of her people that she doesn’t even know what she’s missing. Who needs toys when you have the love and admiration of a wonderful family?!
Spicy would love a home where she was allowed to sleep in the people bed, snuggle on the couch, and just generally be a cuddle bug. She’s so soft that you’ll never want her to leave your side, and that will suit Spicy just fine. She would be fine for a first-time Frenchie owner, but she would do best in an adult-only home or a home with older children—teenagers, preferably.
Spicy is a girl making up for lost time. If you’d like to add a little Spicy to your life, apply for her now. She is being fostered in London, Ontario Canada and will not be shipped.
