Have you've been waiting for a young, kid-friendly, cat-friendly, dog-loving, most certainly people-adoring, nearly too-good-to-be true frenchie? If you're willing to commit to some medical maintenance care, we may have the perfect boy for you!

Rizzo, a wild-eyed, batty little boy, was surrendered to FBRN when his owners could no longer help relieve his severe allergies. Due to their prior experience with FBRN, they knew they could trust us in figuring out his medical maladies, and eventually find him the perfect forever home.

Rizzo suffers from allergies to bugs, mold, dust, fleas, grass, pollen, trees, and possibly food. However, with a basic maintenance and preventative routine, Rizzo does rather well and is a happy, bouncy, active little frenchie! Caring for this little one includes some simple, but extremely important steps. He will need frequent baths (at least once a week with his special shampoo), special food (grain-free duck & potato from Natural Balance), good flea/tick prevention, and medicine as needed (prednisone, antihistamines, fatty acid supplements, antibiotics). His ears are also affected by his allergies and need a good cleaning at least with every bath (he has a special ear cleaner as well).

Although that list of medicines seems like quite the drug cocktail, they should not be used long-term. Any potential adopter should know that it is very possible that he will have another allergic breakout in the future, and at that point will need to go back on the meds.

Rizzo's allergies are nothing but a blip in his happy-go-lucky existence. The itchiness and the associated discomfort, do nothing to affect his jovial demeanor. He is simply a great sport with the hand he's been dealt! Oh and did we mention he's housebroken? However, because the prednisone makes him very thirsty, if he goes too long without a break, he may have pee accidents.

Other than that, the only thing Rizzo hopes for is love and playtime with his very own family. He is a very active doggie, so he would not do well with a family of couch potatoes. He's constantly on the move, as his foster mom puts it, "he's an explorer". He would love his own fenced yard to explore and play, but he's certainly open to other leashed forms of entertainment. Due to his exploratory and active nature, he would probably not make a great office dog. As he loves people and other animals, he has a great time at daycare and just about anywhere when he's out and about. You won't find any attitude with this laid-back pooch. He avoids conflict, doesn't like when other dogs are in an altercation – no food or toy aggression. Ideally he'd love to have a stay-at-home parent, but a part-time work schedule would work for him as well.

As if you needed more convincing, here are a few words directly from his foster parent:

This guy puts his magic spell on everyone and is the model citizen of dogs on how they should all behave and interact with others. His future family will have hit the lotto with this one, as he's one-in-a-million. He loves with all his heart! Rizzo would also like for me to mention to his future suitors that the quickest way to his heart is through his belly!!! He's a comical clown, and there's so much to love about this crowd pleaser that you can take out with pride and joy.

If you too believe that Rizzo's skin issues are only skin deep, and you are ready to appreciate (and take care of) the beauty within, please apply for this friendly little gentleman.

Rizzo is freshly bathed and carrying around his favorite rubber toys while he waits for his forever family to pick him up in Virginia. He will wait patiently no matter how slow you drive or fly, but he will not be shipped.
