When Quinn the pied frog gets here everybody’s gonna jump for joy! And jumping we are, because the Mighty Quinn is now available!

Poor Quinn was on the wrong end of his former family’s relocation. Their new housing would only allow one dog and his family elected to keep their elderly pug and turn Quinn into FBRN. Their loss will be someone else’s gain because Quinn is a sweet, loving frog who truly deserves a new start with a family who will cherish him forever.

Like many frogs, Quinn is plagued with allergies. Luckily for him, his seem to be easily managed. Upon his arrival, he had a case of the itchies in one ear and was red between the toes but both situations were quickly resolved with a visit to the vet and a switch to a grain-free diet. His forever family will have to monitor him for seasonal itchiness as a change in environment may cause him to flare up. Quinn will sometimes urp during times of excitement, high activity or stress. Elevated feeding dishes and crate rest after eating has helped reduce this. Other than that, Quinn is a normal, healthy, active young frog.

In his former home Quinn lived with both young children and babies. His foster mom has had no experience with him around infants. He does get very excited to see kids and would do fine in a home with respectful children ages five and older.

Quinn currently shares space with two Boxer foster siblings and gets along with them just fine. He enjoys playing chase around the yard when engaged to play. He can occasionally be snarky but he is not an aggressive boy. He will sometimes guard his food and water from his siblings and nose them away from his foster mom so that he makes sure he gets all the attention. Quinn recently had the opportunity to attend a Frenchie meet-up and was a bit overwhelmed by all the dogs and excitement.

Toys are not high up on Quinn’s list of favorites, but he will enjoy a short session of ball chase or rope tug. He’s not a big fan of Nylabones but has been known to settle in with a frozen marrow bone stuffed with applesauce and yogurt. He enjoys a walk and simply just loves to be with his person above all.

Quinn has separation anxiety, and while he has made enormous strides thanks to the diligent efforts on the part of his foster mom, he is still a work in progress. With the help of a Canine Behaviorist they were able to implement structure and leadership and relieve Quinn of his burdens. Quinn’s forever home should be willing to follow through with the groundwork that has been laid in his behavioral training. This hard work has paid off ten-fold. The crate that he was terrified of before is now a safe and happy place. He has developed a confident and relaxed demeanor.

Quinn is an extremely smart, obedient and curious guy. He’s a happy camper who takes new experiences in stride. He’s a sweet frog who loves companionship.

Quinn could possibly adjust to going to an office because he’s a social butterfly who’s fairly calm. He settles in quickly but he will need some exercise, so if you like a walk during your lunch hour he may be the perfect office companion. Quinn would also be fine staying home during the day. In the beginning a full 5-8 hours may be too much for him, so some mid-day company would ease his anxiety. He will need structure to keep him balanced.

Potty training has been going well for Quinn. He has a tendency to mark one particular room in his foster home. He’s crate trained but since he’s shown no destructive tendencies in his foster home he may not need to be crated after settling into his new home.

A forever home with a fenced yard is high up on Quinn’s wish list. He is a young frog who needs more than a walk for daily exercise and enjoys being outside. An active family who would enjoy including him in their weekend activities would be great. He would benefit from having the company of another dog, so long as it’s a well-adjusted dog with no anxiety issues of their own. Quinn currently resides with a cat in his foster home, so a dog-savvy cat would be OK. Birds and other small critters are unknowns for Quinn. A home with Frenchie experience would be preferable.

Here are a few words from the Mighty Quinn’s foster mom:

Quinn has probably been the most rewarding experience I’ve had the privilege of fostering! This young man is so sweet and deserving. Imagine being uncomfortable in your own skin, no sense about yourself and feeling you had to take the weight of the world on your shoulders. You found yourself in a pack with no leader, direction or structure. As a pack animal, you knew that there is chaos without a leader. Quinn knew this, but at his young age, he was not equipped, nor had the desire to step up. Someone had to do it, so the Mighty Quinn took on the job. Unfortunately, in the canine world, very few pack leaders are born to take on this job. Some results of taking on this monumental job, when it should be ours, may be a behavior issue. In Quinn’s case, it resulted in Separation Anxiety. The hard part for Quinn has been done. His emotional health is as important as the physical, and he’s very healthy physically. Quinn would love to share his new life with another balanced doggie companion, as he loves to play. He’s an absolute lovey, and purrs with contentment when invited for snuggle time. To look in his adoring big brown eyes at the end of the day is priceless. Quinn would thrive with a family that will provide a well-rounded environment and would include him in their activities as he is a very social frog, while providing the much needed structure and leadership he needs to keep him in a healthy state of mind. Having read Jan Fennell’s book “The Dog Listener” and understanding S/A and her methods of dealing with it and helping a dog move forward, would be a “plus” on your application for darling Quinn.

If you think that yours is the right home for Quinn, submit an application for this darling boy. But be prepared to travel for him because Quinn is in Long Island, New York and will not be shipped!
