Please read the puppy mill info page before applying for Pua.
Is one of your New Year’s resolutions opening your heart and home to a four-legged family member? If you are a low key sort of person with a dog-free home, why not consider Pua? She may just be the perfect companion to join you in a fresh start!
Pua comes from a puppy mill. She was adopted from FBRN by a loving family. However, her adopters were not able to resolve the dog aggressiveness Pua harbored towards the resident dog. Pua’s foster family worked very hard with Pua on her dog aggressiveness and separation anxiety issues, and they seemed to make huge headway. However, in the last month or so, they have realized that Pua would truly be much happier as a singleton -- the one thing they are not able to offer her.
So far, Pua has only shown aggression toward dogs of the female variety. The presence of food, as well as her separation anxiety, tends to ratchet her aggression up a few notches. She seems to be fine with the boys. However, since our goal is to make Pua’s next home truly her forever home, we’re going to say “no” to other doggy sibs.
Kitties and kiddies are A-OK with Pua, though, so either of those should be fine in her prospective home.
Like many of our Frenchie friends, Pua has some allergies. They seem to be managed with an antibiotic and steroid when she flares up. Pua’s allergies may become better or worse depending on the location she relocates to.
Also like many of our Frenchie friends, Pua is a couch potato! She is low key and just wants to be with her person. She has a couple of favorite toys – a Loofa dog and a set of Nylabone Keys that she absolutely loves!
Pua is one of those super smart Frenchie girls! She’s also housebroken! When her anxiety is under control, that is. Any prospective adopter should be patient with Pua, be familiar with separation anxiety, and be able to offer her a safe, stable, consistent environment.
The best family for Pua is one in which she would be a single dog and be a companion to her person for most of the day. A retired person, one who works from home, or who has the capacity to bring Pua along to the office would be fantastic! A home with a fenced in yard is always lovely, but since Pua is such a low maintenance type of gal, an apartment with daily walks would probably work for her as well.
Here are a few words from Pua’s very devoted foster dad: “Pua came to FBRN as a failed adoption out of a puppy mill. We fostered Pua for 4 months. We adopted her as she was thriving here with us. However, in the last month we have realized she really needs the "only dog" home we cannot give her. We hope she can find a home that has no other dogs, and an owner that can be home with her. Pua is a great little girl. She will make a stay at home mom or dad the perfect Frenchie. When her anxiety is under control, she is house broken and knows lots of commands. We are very sad to let her go, but we are really happy she will find a peaceful home where she can just relax.”
Is yours the peaceful home that Pua is looking for? If you think so, then please apply for her! But be prepared for a trip to Northern California, because that’s where Pua is waiting for you, and she will not be shipped!
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Except in rare or unusual cases, adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. In rare or unusual cases, FBRN may be able to assist in transporting a dog to a volunteer near the adopter's home, but the expense of transporting the dog must be the responsibility of the adopting party.
