Priscilla was picked up as a stray and sent to FBRN by way of a wonderful shelter. We know that she met with some kindness along the way: in addition to her spay and health checkup, someone there took the time to paint her toenails. Nothing like a bit of blingy polish to brighten up a girl’s day!
Priscilla absolutely loves people and wants to be touching you at all times. Her bottom teeth and her little tongue stick out sometimes, which is adorable. She'll cuddle up like a little baby and loves it when you rub her ears. Speaking of ears, she has one up and one down which we find quite cute! Priscilla is healthy and has no ongoing health concerns.
She has been around a few kids while in foster care and has done great. While she doesn't have ongoing exposure to young kids, we think she would be fine as long as the children are calm. Priscilla has had no exposure to cats while in foster care and since we want to ensure the safety of any potential feline fur-siblings, we cannot consider applicants with kitties at this time. Priscilla will coexist with other calm dogs. She gets stressed out when other dogs play or get rowdy (even when humans play with dogs). She prefers to just sit next to her human and snuggle. She likes smaller dogs better than larger ones and has learned to get along with the resident Frenchie in her foster home. However, Pris doesn't like the male Boxer in her foster home. She will tolerate him in the same room as her, but has gotten snarky over food/water/rambunctious play. Her foster mom simply feeds her separately in her crate, and there have been no issues.
Priscilla is 100% laid back. Her perfect day would be cuddled up against her owner on the couch or snuggled up in bed. She loves blankets, burrowing, and snuggling up to you. Her sole purpose is to love on her person and she would make a wonderful pet for someone who wants a sweet, low-maintenance companion. Priscilla has almost zero interest in toys, but she will chomp on a bone once in a while. She enjoys walks and walks well on a leash, but doesn't need much exercise.
Priscilla is learning to go outside more frequently. She is so attached to humans that she doesn't want to go outside if you're not there (which is difficult in the winter). As long as you go outside with her, she'll go and she will potty. She also knows the word "outside" and will get very excited about it and leap up on the door to go out. Over the course of time, Priscilla’s foster family has trained her to go in her crate for food and water. She will also go in when you offer a treat, but she is not happy about being in her crate and will whine from time to time. We don’t think she has had any formal obedience training, but she knows how to sit for a treat and she likes to follow her human around the house.
Ideally, Priscilla would be placed in a home with no other pets or kids and someone who is home all day. She wouldn’t be destructive if she was left at home alone for a few hours, but she would certainly be sad. It is mandatory that her forever person be someone who doesn’t mind a Frenchie sitting next to them 24/7 and who wants a low maintenance, calm dog. Since she is so low maintenance, she would thrive in any home environment (house, apartment, or condo). She doesn't need that much space to play or run around. We think one other small, calm dog would be fine, as long as the owner is willing to work with Priscilla and make sure they work on their relationship. She has made great strides while in foster care and we believe she is very trainable.
She would do fine in an office where the owner knows what other dogs may be in the office or knows that Pris will be the only dog there. Her foster mom doesn’t believe that there would be any issues, but in a different environment, she may act differently and we tend to err on the side of caution.
Here is a quick word from Pris’s foster mom, “Priscilla is an adorable little Frenchie. She is on the smaller side, but has lots of muscle and can jump a mile high! We call her pig or piggy because she reminds us of the Family Guy episode when Stewie breeds a genetically superior pig with fists instead of hooves. Her bottom teeth and her little tongue stick out sometimes, especially when she's sleeping, which is adorable. She'll cuddle up like a little baby and loves it when you rub her ears. She's a great companion and snuggle buddy when it's chilly outside. If you're petting her and then stop, she'll paw at you like she's saying, "Don't stop! Keep the lovin' coming!"
If you’ve fallen in love with this floppy-eared beauty and can keep the lovin’ coming, then please apply for Priscilla today. She already has her toenails painted and is ready for her big day!
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Except in rare or unusual cases, adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. In rare or unusual cases, FBRN may be able to assist in transporting a dog to a volunteer near the adopter's home, but the expense of transporting the dog must be the responsibility of the adopting party.
