Porridge was rescued by a Good Samaritan who saved him from a neglect situation- after being used as a breeder he was tied up and left to live outdoors for four years. His guardian angel nursed him back to health and turned him over to FBRN to find his forever home.

Despite his history of harsh living arrangements, Porridge mostly has the usual older gentleman wear and tear. He's a little hard of hearing, a little crumbly of nose. He had surgery to correct a breathing problem and is fine as long as he doesn't get too hot or over-exerted. Common sense is all. As long as he doesn't decide to run marathons, he should do well in his golden years. He has the cutest little tongue that peeps out, too.

Porridge LOVES children and ignores cats. He moved right in with four Frenchies in his foster home and did fine with them, too, although he prefers those who are not too large, active, or dominant. He likes mellow.

As a distinguished senior citizen, Porridge prefers to spend most of his leisure time relaxing, though he does play with the other dogs in his foster home for short periods. He should not be taken on long walks or outside in very warm weather, but he loves car rides, visits to the vet, pet stores and general "visiting." He dearly loves attention from all people and really enjoys "making the rounds."

Porridge is crate trained and housebroken (although there is a chance he may try to mark the first day or two in a new home). He knows how to sit for a treat (don't they all?) but doesn't appear to have had any other training. He has an overwhelmingly easygoing personality but can occasionally get a trifle bossy with toys or food around other pets. He is easily corrected with a verbal correction.

Besides going on errands and hanging out, Porridge loves to chew bones, playing tug with other dogs, and carrying toys around to show off his bounty. He asks to have his belly rubbed and rewards the masseuse with happy, sloppy kisses (watch out!)

Porridge is a very sweet man who would be happy with a single person, older people or a family with older, gentle kids. He loves people and getting out to socialize outside the house. He would enjoy having another small dog or two to play with, or he could easily be an only pet. He would also be fine with a family cat! Porridge is not high-energy and loves sleeping in his bed in a warm spot in the living room. He will follow you around the house, so maybe more than one bed would be a good idea. He will play and enjoys lots of attention, but his energy comes in bursts, and then he is very mellow.

This is a dog who would make an ideal take to work companion. He would also be okay at home during the day, but due to his age will need at least one mid-day break. He would also love a stay at home person with whom he could run lots of important errands! Off leash Porridge tends to wander, so a fenced yard would be best for him. If he is to live without a fenced yard he must be kept leashed at all times when outdoors.

A few final words from Porridge's foster mom:
"Porridge is a sweetheart of a dog who deserves a wonderful family to adore him. He has a magnetic personality and people stop and pet and talk to him wherever he goes. He is the epitome of the sweet, loving Frenchie with spunk, sparkle and charm. He would love nothing more than to be someone's devoted companion and shadow, and he is not demanding at all. Porridge is easy to fall in love with and hard to forget!"

Porridge is cooking up lots of love and comfort in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. He will not be shipped, so plan on picking him up in person. He's waiting for you!
