Sweet and hot little two year-old Pepper came to FBRN from a backyard breeding situation following her family's split.

Pepper is an active dog with a medium to high activity level. She loves walks and is having a lot of fun exploring the inside of a house, since up 'til now she was kept outdoors. Kitties! Doggies! Comfy sofas! It's all too divine and fabulous. With all that energy, Pepper always seems to be underfoot, but she's so eager to please that it's impossible to mind.

She truly loves people and lives blissfully with a three year old in her foster home. Her favorite activity is to cover someone from head to toe in kisses. What a licker this girl is! Pepper also loves her lovin'. She cannot get enough attention and tummy rubs. It is as though she is making up for lost time -- and she is, really.

Pepper is very smart and has good house manners, although she doesn't know much in the way of formal commands. She is house-trained and crate-trained. She has no health or temperament issues, aside from a dominant attitude with other dogs.

With dogs, Pepper's initial reaction is to be pushy and dominant. She came to foster care mildly dog aggressive, but has learned to live in her foster pack very well and has improved greatly at meeting new dogs. For an experienced dog owner who can properly introduce dogs and guide the situation, it is well under control. For a novice, however, it is something that can get out of hand quickly.

If Pepper senses a handler's weakness, she will still try to boss around new dogs she meets, and will not hesitate to bite them if permitted. She has a high prey drive, and should not be left unsupervised or off leash with small, weak, or submissive dogs. As for cats, she will initially chase them, but then calms down and leaves them alone as long as they aren't acting afraid.

Ideally, Pepper would join a busy family with kids, lots of activity, and another nice dog to play with. First time Frenchie owners would be fine as long as they have experience with pushy/dominant dogs in the past. Firm, confident, consistent leadership is all it will take to ensure this girl's continued improvement.

Pepper doesn't necessarily need someone to be home all day, as she can happily nap in her crate for four hours or so. As much face time as possible is preferable, though, to keep some of this little firecracker's energy burning off at all times! Going to work or having a visit from a dog walker would both be fine.

Either an apartment or house would be okay for Pepper, however a fenced yard with a minimum four foot fence is required.

If you're looking for a little something to spice up your life, then head for the Rockies – Pepper is in Colorado and she won't be shipped.
