Did you ever read James and the Giant Peach? Well Peaches is the antithesis to that oversized fruit, as she is just a teeny tiny little thing though she has the personality of a giant. Weighing in at just over 12 pounds, Peaches packs a punch for such a diminutive frenchie.

This sweet little thing is yet another victim of a puppy mill where she lived the first five years of her life. Despite having spent so many years in deplorable conditions, Peaches is as sweet as can be, and is a great example of the resilience of dogs. Now that she knows what it’s like to enjoy some stability in life, she’s ready to go find her very own forever home!

After Peaches was retired from the puppy mill, she had two different owners who had difficulty with housebreaking and the second owner decided to surrender her to FBRN.

Upon entering foster care, it was quickly discovered that she was suffering from a UTI, which was a major contributor to her lack of success when it came to housebreaking. After taking some antibiotics, the infection cleared right up and gave her a fresh start. The only other medical concern is that Peaches seems a little itchy at times, but oatmeal baths and a grain-free diet help a great deal.

At this point, her foster home reports that she is about 90% housebroken. She can hold it overnight with no problem, and as long she can have outside access about every 4 hours during the day, she tends to have great success. She does not give any signal that she has to go, so it’ll be up to her owner to make sure to provide her with sufficient potty opportunity to set her up for success. If left to her own devices, Peaches will eat her own waste, so she must be supervised when doing her business.

Despite being a tiny little thing, Peaches houses a big ol’ Alpha personality. She enjoys the company of select dogs but is definitely not a happy go lucky kind of gal when it comes to canine friends. In her foster home, she happily co-exists with a very submissive male, but only after she puffed out her chest and made it clear that she would rule the roost. While out and about, she will put on rude displays of leash aggression lunging, and barking with all her might as other dogs go by. We will consider placing her with a submissive male dog because she does enjoy her foster brother’s company, but we suspect she’d be just as happy to have all the attention to herself.

On a day to day basis, Peaches enjoys a simple life. Though she’s energetic, she’s not really one for long walks. She much prefers to be inside the comfort of a home and wrestling with her foster brother. She happily shares her toys with her canine friend and humans; you won’t hear a single complaint out of this little girl.

After a good play session, all she wants to do is snooze and cuddle on the couch. After her rough start, Peaches takes great joy in the simple things in life. This teeny tiny thing comes crate-trained, sits for treats, and is ready to learn a few more commands.

Peaches would easily adjust to life in a house, condo, or apartment. She doesn’t need a yard, as she’s not too crazy about being outside; she just does her business and is ready to head back inside. Ideally, someone should home most of the day to help her housebreaking on track. If she were in a home with only one adult she would need to be let out at least twice during the day. She would also do well in an office or working environment as long as she could be the only dog around. She would be a cute office greeter!

Peaches is a highly adaptable dog and is ready to cuddle with and give lots of kisses to someone for the rest of her life. Her demands are simple- a warm, safe home, and a loving family to call her own.
