Patton is an older and more distinguished Frenchie. He likes to take leisurely strolls and afternoon naps. If you are looking for a companion to enjoy the slow life with, Patton is your guy! He is thought to be about 8 years old and came into FBRN care along with 9 of his friends (known to FBRN as the Gulf Coast 10). Patton has adapted very well to home life and has charmed everyone that he has met while in foster care!

Patton had 10 rotten teeth pulled and a few non-cancerous growths removed while he was under anesthesia for his neuter. He is showing signs of arthritis in his back legs, but is otherwise healthy. He likes his crate and will go in for a nap – often with his head or tongue hanging out! Patton will give a bit of a protest when you shut his crate door and walk away, but he quiets down quickly. He is great at the vet, very cooperative during bath time, and just an overall easy going guy.

Patton has no toy or food aggression and gets along well with dogs of all sizes and both sexes. He would do best with calmer, low-energy dogs in his forever home. Patton has been exposed to 5 & 6 year-old boys while in foster care and he did well but seemed a little stressed when the boys became more rowdy. After he was tired of all the excitement, Patton simply went into the laundry room to have some quiet time. Patton will try to chase cats outside, but has not bothered the dog-savvy indoor cat (she doesn't run). He would only be placed in a home with cats that are known to be dog savvy.

Patton is mostly reliable with house training. He seems to mark only when introduced to a new environment so he should be watched closely when given access to a new room or going to a new place. He will go to the door when he wants outside, but he doesn't make any noise to let you know – and it is quite possible that he may just want to go outside to investigate and not actually need to potty. Patton just LOVES to explore the outdoors and he is a frog hunter extraordinaire! He also loves his toys - Nylabones and stuffies are favorites. He can make you believe he is years younger when the mood strikes him to play! Patton really likes to be near his people and wants to be in the same room with you if possible. He is not pushy for attention, but will politely put his paws on your knee if you are sitting on the couch.

With his laid back temperament, Patton would do well in most any home environment. A fenced yard is preferred – he just loves to explore outside at his leisure! Someone that walked him on leash would be fine as long as they have plenty of time to devote to long slow strolls. Patton really takes his time when taken out to potty on leash – every blade of grass must be inspected and the perfect spot must be found! Someone who is home all day would be nice but Patton does fine when left home alone with a mid-day break.

A word from his foster mom, “Patton can move very fast when he sees a frog or a kittie, so don't let him fool you, he's a very spry old man! He is well mannered and doesn't ask for much, and he has the most adorable face and sweet disposition. He really loves exploring the back yard and when he is out for a walk on the leash, he loves meeting new people. He is very special and is going to make a wonderful addition to his lucky forever family!”
