Ladies and Gentlemen, put your hands together and welcome – Oprah!!! Oops, not quite what you were expecting? Not (yet) a world renowned star, but still very special in our eyes, FBRN’s Oprah is an eleven month old brindle girl. Like the boll weevil, she is lookin’ for a home.

Baby Oprah was surrendered to a vet clinic because she does not get along with other dogs. The clinic tried to place her twice. Once she went to a home with dogs, and once to a country home where she wanted to eat the geese, chickens and other small animals. Following the last return, they asked for our help in finding this poor young Frenchie the right home.

A snuggly little bug, Oprah has an adorable lop ear and is scrumptious in her outfits. Tiny at 18 lbs, she loves people. She really wants to be the only star in her world, and is not willing to share the stage with any other furred or feathered beings. Dogs? No! Cats or bunnies? No! Birds? No! In order for Oprah’s next home to truly be forever, her next gig must be a solo act.

Totally healthy, housebroken and crate-trained, Oprah would do well in most any family situation that doesn’t include other pets. A youngster herself, kids of any age to romp with would be fine. Like any kid, she will need guidance to grow up to be a good froggy citizen. She sings “Ain’t Misbehavin’" with conviction, but you know how puppies are! She could chew, get into things and otherwise indulge in mischief if left unsupervised.

Oprah is submissive with people now, but her naturally dominant nature needs to be correctly channeled. According to her foster mom, “A first-time Frenchie owner, if they have previous dog experience, would be fine for Oprah. It will be important for her forever family to make sure she knows who the boss is, or she potentially could morph into an ‘alpha-monster’. She must not be allowed to develop an “omnipotent” attitude or she will ride roughshod over her family. A basic obedience class would be a very good place for her owners to begin to develop the correct relationship with her, enforcing rules and boundaries.”

Bones, balls or belly-rubs are the perks our little star desires. She is very agile and tries to leap into her foster mom’s arms, almost making it. A securely fenced yard for leaping and playing is preferred for her new home. Oprah enjoys strolling on a leash, but if she encounters another dog and her challenging stare is met, watch out!

Oprah is a pint-sized bundle of Frenchie fun, ready for a lifetime starring role in your heart. She’s opening her fan mail in NE Georgia and will not be shipped.
