Misha has not been a pet. Though she wasn't from a puppy mill--she lived in a standard-sized kennel with access to the outdoors--she may share some of the issues puppy mill dogs have upon being introduced to life in a house. Please read the puppy mill info page before applying for Misha.

Misha is a sweet, people-loving, floppy eared breeder retiree whose time has come to enjoy the finer things life has to offer.

Misha is remarkably healthy! She is up to date on all her vaccines, has been spayed and is heartworm negative.

In foster care, Misha has learned to coexist with her canine foster siblings of various shapes and sizes. Misha is food and toy aggressive. She’s perfectly gentle with her people, however, and will give up anything she has to them, but her four legged companions are always on the receiving end of her snarky behavior. Misha has made some strides accepting treats while in the company of her many foster siblings, but for the most part remains uncomfortable with them. Misha may do fine with an older, larger, laid-back dog in her forever home, but we think she’d be better suited to being the only child.

Perhaps it’s due to the many offspring that Misha has had, but Misha detests puppies! For Misha’s long term happiness she will not be placed in a home with puppies and/or young dogs.

What Misha lacks in canine social skills she makes up for with humans. In spite of her past, Misha is a total lover of people! Her favorite pastime is just being with her foster mom. She sits when her foster mom sits, goes in the yard when her foster mom is in the yard…she just wants to be close. She is also learning all the perks of being a house dog. Misha loves tummy rubbins, couch snoozin’ and car ridin’. She’s just learned the pleasure of a crazy zoomie nut run in a large yard, and is still figuring out what toys are all about.

The perfect forever home for Misha would be one in which her people are low key, live a quiet life and don’t leave her alone. A calm, work at home person or retiree would be ideal. Misha loves meeting new people and may also enjoy accompanying her person to work, so long as the workplace is a small, quiet environment. Misha gets nervous in crowds.

Misha currently does not live with any children although she seems to enjoy the company of the neighborhood kids. Calm, respectful older children may be OK for her forever home. Younger children would probably be too boisterous and quick for this mellow girl. She also enjoys her feline foster sibling, so a dog-savvy cat would be fine too.

In spite of the fact that Misha’s entire existence prior to her foster home was spent kenneled, she is doing very well with her housebreaking. She understands what the outdoors is there for but hasn’t quite figured out how to let someone know her needs. She has only had one piddling accident in her foster home, so if her forever family keeps her on a consistent potty schedule she should do fine.

Misha keeps a clean crate but does not appreciate being in it. She will loudly holler her displeasure so that everyone within a 20 mile radius is aware of her unhappiness. Because of this, as well as the kenneled life she’s had until now, we would prefer Misha not be crated. A baby gate or exercise pen may be suitable alternatives if need be. Preferably, she should not be left alone as she has extreme separation anxieties and really needs someone with her all of the time. Her forever family should be willing to work with an experienced trainer on ways to possibly lessen Misha’s anxieties. Misha’s biggest need is for someone to call her very own and not leave her. She’s fairly flexible with her living arrangements – she would do fine in a house, apartment, condo, etc. Keeping in mind that if she is left alone she will scream and annoy the neighbors!

Misha’s foster mom has this to add about this loving girl: The first years of Misha’s life were spent cranking out litters of puppies. Now is her time, and she deserves to be spoiled and pampered. Watching her go from a trembling, terrified wreck to a sleek and glossy lady has been quite an eye opener. Every day brings new experiences and new joys for her. After all of the kenneled years she still loves humans and gives the softest kisses imaginable. I know there is someone out there just for her.

If you have an empty couch in a quiet home that needs a Frenchie snoozing on it, Misha may just be the girl for you! Prepare to travel for this car ride loving frog, because Misha is in Missouri and will not be shipped!
