UPDATE 7/8/09
Mini Me is recovering well from corneal surgery, but he needs eyedrops now. We don't know if this condition will persist or whether he will begin to form tears on his own later, however, potential adopters should assume that he will require daily eyedrop medications and plan to apply for him or not based on whether they can commit to the medication regimen.

If you’re looking for a sweet, petite, treat, Mini-Me just may be the frog for you! Weighing in at just 17 pounds, this little pied peanut is just the most loveable little Frenchie boy you could ever hope for.

Mini-Me has gotten his name in foster care due to the fact that he sticks like glue to his Frenchie foster sibling. One of his most favorite things to do is play with his larger Frenchie “twin”, and where the larger frog goes Mini-Me surely follows. The two wrassle, play rope tug, chew different ends of the same bone and even nap in the same crate. For this reason the ideal home for Mini-Me would be one in which there is another playful dog to buddy around with. Mini-Me is not dependent on his foster sibling however, and is happy to entertain himself with a Nylabone when no one feels like playing.

Mini-Me is that great combination of laid-back and active that we all wish for in a Frenchie. He’s got just enough energy to get out and go for a nice long walk, but he’s also perfectly content to cuddle with you on the couch all night for popcorn and a movie.

For that reason we feel Mini-Me would do well in any number of dwellings: apartment, condo, house. Mini-Me could live in any of these easily. A house with a fenced yard would be ideal as he is a young kid and would probably enjoy a daily zoomie run. But, daily walks would be OK with him also.

In a perfect world we would love someone to be home all day for our frogs. Mini-Me would probably enjoy the company, but it’s not necessary. He would do fine with someone who can come home during the day for a mid-day break or a dog walker. With a little more training he may even be an office dog. He’s quiet and well behaved and very well adjusted.

Mini-Me was a much loved dog in his former home and it shows - he has no temperament issues! He has been fed in his crate, separate from the other dogs in his foster home, but has shown no food aggression with people. He has not been exposed to children in his foster home but has loved everyone he’s met. He’s young and can play a little rough, so homes with respectful children over 6 years old would be best.

Mini-Me is 100% housebroken! Can he be more perfect? Except…he’s not crazy about grass and he may poop on your porch if you’ve got one. He is crate trained but he prefers to be out. When he is crated at night he’s quiet but he cries in the morning when he hears his foster mom is awake.

Mini-Me is working hard on his training. He’s got “sit” and “come” down pat and he’s working on “stay.” His foster mom says that he’s very sweet.

Lest you begin to think that Mini-Me is that absolutely perfect Frenchie, let us tell you why he’s with us. He was tearfully surrendered by a young couple who absolutely adored him but were overwhelmed by the scope and expense of his allergies. Yes, Mini-Me is yet another frog plagued by those dreaded allergies. His forever home should be willing to continue any treatments that have been started in his foster home, and should realize that any regional change could trigger a change in his allergies. Allergy dogs are high maintenance, and Mini-Me’s forever home should understand this and be committed to his long term health and happiness.

Now a few words from Mini-Me’s foster mom: "Mini-Me is the perfect little dog. He is on the small side and has the cutest face. When I get up in the morning or come home from work, he waits for me to greet him. When I finally look down at him, you can see the happiness – he doesn’t just wag his tail, he wags his whole rear end. He’s not a kisser, but when you sit on the couch, he has to be touching you, preferably with his head in your lap. Mini-Me is a happy, happy, well- adjusted boy."
