Ma Kettle never has to have another puppy and now that she’s well versed in the joys of being a pet, she’s looking for her very own forever family.

This 8-year-old little lady is a sweetheart who demands little and gives so much love. She enjoys the company of humans and dogs and mostly ignores the kitties in her foster home.

This sweet gal was acquired by a Good Samaritan who had her spayed before turning her over to FBRN. When Ma came to us, her ears were still severely inflamed and they have improved significantly with treatment. Her new family should be ready to clean her ears a couple of times a week as part of her maintenance. Ma has a small pocket around her tail that can stay a little moist, and this area should be cleaned daily to keep her healthy and feeling fresh. Ma Kettle loves spending time with her people and counts the daily or weekly cleaning routine as part of her quality bonding time. She’ll sit or stand politely while her people clean her up and she gives a proper thank you in the form of kisses.

Ma Kettle is an easygoing girl who gets along well with other happy dogs. Her foster home includes 6 resident dogs, 3 are male and 3 are female. With proper and slow introductions Ma made it clear that she’s not interested in challenging other dogs, but if someone comes after her chew or toy, she will stand her ground.

She loves all people and would probably be fine in a home that that includes dog savvy children.

Always willing to go with the flow, Ma Kettle is likely to engage in a little bit of play and then happily cheers from the sidelines once she’s ready to take a break. While she enjoys short outings on leash, she does not need long walks. A little quality time sharing the fenced backyard with her people and her doggie friends provides enough entertainment and exercise.

More than anything Ma just wants to be near her people. In fact, her desire to be next to people all the time can be annoying at times as she is often underfoot and can cause people to trip. Anyone in the home who has difficulty with balance might be in danger of falling when this little cinder block gets in the way.
Due to her ear and tail pocket cleaning routine, Ma Kettle would prefer a family who have previously owned a Frenchie or otherwise have doggy maintenance experience. Be sure to mention your history in the application.
Any first level type home would work for Ma Kettle as she does not do well navigating stairs. While a fenced yard is always a nice bonus, it is not required as long as there are other nearby grassy areas where she can relieve herself while on leash.

The most important thing in a home for this sweet girl is that she needs someone who is willing and able to provide her basic hygiene maintenance with the requisite hugs and kisses along the way.

She is housebroken as long as she gets frequent chances to go outside. There should be someone at home most of the day because she needs to go out to potty every 3-4 hours. She is also crate trained, but we’re hoping that with a stay at home, work from home, or retired family members she won’t have spend much time in a crate.

Now here’s a word from her foster mom:
"On her first day here, she very tentatively climbed into my lap, looked up at me and gave me a little kiss on my chin and then leaned into my chest, as if she was saying “ah, thank you - finally I can rest!" It was just so touching. Ma absolutely loves affection and attention, it means more to her than anything else. She has quietly tolerated bathing, ear flushing, tail pocket cleanings and nail trims because she is just so grateful for the attention. And now her ears are clear, her skin is clearing, she’s dropped a pound and you can tell she feels better because she has a little swagger to her walk. It’s as if her life is just now really starting, so I think of her as 8 years young! Ma has been a dream foster dog – she is simply a delightful girl with a wonderful spirit."

If Ma Kettle sounds like she might be the right companion for you, please submit an application. Be ready to pick her up in Florida and make sure your air conditioner is working well before you make the trip.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Except in rare or unusual cases, adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. In rare or unusual cases, FBRN may be able to assist in transporting a dog to a volunteer near the adopter's home, but the expense of transporting the dog must be the responsibility of the adopting party.
