Lilybelle is a silly, exuberant frog dog, ready to find her furever home! Lilybelle is a very unique lady; she is deaf. Her limited hearing does not stop her from enjoying life, though. Most days you will find this little diva playing with her toys and stock piling her Nylabones. Lilybelle is looking for a home that is dedicated to helping her learn hand signal commands. Are you an experienced Frenchie owner that has time to dedicate to this sweetheart? If so , keep reading to learn more about smart and sassy Lilybelle.

Lilybelle was surrendered to FBRN when her previous owners became concerned with how she interacted with their grandchild. They had not taught Lilybelle any hand signal commands and could not get her attention when they wanted her to stop playing with the baby. Lilybelle never caused any harm to the baby, but they were concerned that they could not control her or get her attention.

When Lilybelle arrived in foster care she was very sad and missed her old home. Well, all that has changed now, and Miss Lilybelle has really come out of her shell. Lilybelle is a very active 7-year-old girl and can be silly and mischievous too! When she has her favorite toy or bone in her mouth she will walk right up to you and wave it in your face like she wants to share it with you, but don't believe her, she does not share her toys. Nope, not one little bit. In fact she wants to keep all her toys for herself. Lilybelle is very, very smart and highly athletic. She bounces around her foster home with the cutest spring in her step. Lilybelle's favorite things in the world are her Nylabones and her nightly massages from her foster mom.

The perfect home for Lilybelle is one that has no other dogs, no children, and a fenced-in yard. Deaf dogs have to be kept corralled in a fenced area--you can't call them back if they get loose! Lilybelle can live in a home or apartment as long as there is a fenced yard for potty breaks. A person who is home a lot is preferred for Lilybelle, but Lilybelle can live with a person that works outside of the home as long as she gets mid day potty breaks. Lilybelle would also be a great dog to bring to the office as long as she is the only dog. She is really great at entertaining herself. Lillybelle's new family must be dedicated to teaching her communication hand signals. She is very smart and will pick up on these easily. Lilybelle is working on crate training and will go in her crate if you give her a treat. She would prefer to live in a home where she can sleep in bed with her people at night. She currently sleeps in her crate, but likes to sleep underneath her bed. She flips it over every night and burrows underneath it. Lilybelle is house trained and will scratch at or sit next to the door when she needs to go out. She is very independent for a deaf dog. Applicants with deaf-dog experience and bulldog experience who can show that they can provide a safe home for Lilybelle are preferred. Be sure to mention your qualifications in your application.

Lillybelle is currently in good health, but she does have allergies that require daily medication and treatment. Lillybelle gets anti-inflammatory eye drops daily to prevent eye irritations that are caused by her allergies. Lilybelle's allergies also cause her skin folds to get irritated. Her skin folds must be cleaned daily to prevent irritation; this is very common for many Frenchies. Lilybelle also has an inverted vulva which must be cleaned daily with baby wipes to prevent yeast and bacteria outbreaks. She gets a daily dose of Zytrec for her allergies and is on a grain-free venison diet which she must be kept on. Lilybelle also has a tendency to eat anything that lands on the ground in front of her, trying to swallow them immediately. For example, while in foster care she ingested a hair scrunchie that fell on the floor before her foster mom could get it away from her. Her new owners will need to take care that she does not have access to things that may fall on the floor. Additional training with hand signals will help greatly in this area.

Lilybelle's foster mom has this to share about her: "Lilybelle is a sweet, silly lady that loves people. She is a bit of a bossy diva, and must be reminded that she is not the Queen she thinks she should be. She is very smart and if provided a bit of training could learn to communicate with hand signals easily. Lily does not take to change easily; she was quite upset by her surrender and move to her foster home and became depressed, so it is of paramount importance that her forever home be committed to working through any issues she may develop. I do not want her bounced around. I picture her as a cherished pet of a middle-aged person or couple who have time to lavish attention on her and are devoted to opening more lines of communication for her.

If you are interested in adopting Lilybelle, be prepared to travel. She is being fostered in NE Georgia and will not be shipped.

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. Except in rare or unusual cases, adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. In rare or unusual cases, FBRN may be able to assist in transporting a dog to a volunteer near the adopter's home, but the expense of transporting the dog must be the responsibility of the adopting party.
