Lexi is five years old and is ready to start leading a life of leisure and love. Lexi was surrendered with four other beautiful babies when their owner decided it was in their best interest to become family pets. They had been living in nice, air-conditioned runs, but they didn’t get the attention they deserved. In her foster home, Lexi has discovered a land of bliss, joy, rapture and TOYS!

Lexi is a very busy dog: she is over here, then over there, then on the couch, then off the couch, then in the kitchen, then in the living room. She is all over the place just running around playing with her toys. The good news is, she does settle down and takes naps on the couch or in her bed. So, far she hasn't gotten into too much trouble in the house. She likes to carry around flip-flops and slippers but doesn't chew them up. Lexi is smart: she learned her new name in 3 days and is learning sit, wait, no & quiet. She is very easy to correct and usually she stops what she is doing if you change your tone or volume of your voice.

As for companions, Lexi has never met a cat, so we have to say no to kitties for their own safety. Lexi is living in a foster home with 5 other dogs, but she would prefer to be the only dog or in a home with a dog that is laid-back and doesn't care much about toys. Because Lexi LOVES toys, and will take toys away from other dogs (which we are working on) and she also likes to protect her toys from the other dogs. She has growled a little bit at other dogs when she was eating or was laying on her MOUND of toys, but never anything more than a growl. She quits growling with a light verbal correction. She may stop that behavior, as she continues to learn that behavior is not tolerated.

So let’s talk about a family for this girl! She’s busy and bouncy, so a single person would be fine or a family with sturdy kids over 5. First time Frenchie people would be okay, as Lexi just wants somebody to love and play with her. A house that she can romp around and play in will be our first choice. A fenced yard is a must. She has lots of energy that she needs to exhaust, so an apartment would be a possibility, but probably not the best for Lexi. (Apartment dwellers please address this issue if you apply for Lexi.) Someone who is home all day would be best as she is working on potty training. But she would still make progress with being home while her family is at work as long as she had a lunch time potty break. She loves people and as long as she had a couple toys and a bed she could very easily go to work with her person.

Her foster mom obviously adores Lexi. “Lexi is a special girl! She is loving everything about her new life! She loves her toys, her bed, fresh food, water and the unconditional love we share everyday. Lexi is smart and outgoing, but she has some things that make her a little scared, such as fast movements towards her face, very loud noises such as sirens or stomping of your feet. But with encouragement and a little love she comes right out of her shell. She loves to love, and gives great Frenchie kisses. Most importantly she deserves a family who will help her blossom into the great new dog that I know she will become...she needs a place to play, a place to rest and people to love her. She will make somebody a great dog. We will miss our spunky, bouncy, cream girl when she leaves. As she IS the life of the party!”

If you are selected to party with Lexi, make plans to drive to the land of Cheeseheads and cheer for the Packers. Lexi is in Wisc-aaahhhn-sin, and she won’t be shipped.
