Low key Laurent is an all around, easy going guy. He peacefully coexists with the resident kitties, has done well with children, and even enjoys the company of the resident dogs. When playing – and he really has to be coaxed into play! - he gets vocal, which foster mom said is a bit off putting at first, but she quickly realized that this is just Laurent’s way. Laurent isn’t a huge toy fan, but he does enjoy getting out of the house for some minimal exercise and especially car rides. His very favorite activity is attention! He loves when foster mom gets down on his level and lays flat out so he can coat her face in kisses!
Because he’s so mellow, Laurent could live in just about any environment. Ideally a house with a fenced backyard would be preferable as he really enjoys roaming around outside, but it’s not necessary. While Laurent has done well in the company of the other dogs in his foster home, we feel that due to the fact that he’s such an attention sponge, he would be much happier as an only dog.
Laurent is both crate trained and housebroken, and he's an absolute whiz at both! He always signals his need to go outside by whining and has never had an indoor accident. He also knows basic obedience. A person who works at home is not necessary – although Laurent would loooove that! – Laurent would do fine with a mid day break. He would also enjoy being an office companion.
Previously Laurent had a recurrent skin infection that was antibiotic resistant. Now successfully treated and on his second Available go ‘round, he is ready to look for his forever family once again. This does not mean that Laurent is now issue free. He will most likely do better with an experienced Frenchie home or one that is allergy experienced and willing and able to make the financial/time commitment that his lifelong skin condition will require. Laurent is currently on a strict food trial; the results of that are yet to be determined, and he needs daily eye drops for chronic dry eye.
Here are some words from Laurent’s smitten foster mom: “Laurent is a very loving soul. He is completely house/crate trained. He has been an absolute pleasure to foster. While he doesn’t mind my 2 cats, Pitbull and Catahula, he seems to only want to really interact with us. He isn’t huge into toys but loves for me to lie on the ground so he can kiss my face!! He has dry eye and needs drops daily and will have long term allergies/skin issues. He is currently 2 weeks into a food trial which seems to be somewhat helping. This loving boy needs a home with someone who can spend some time tending to his needs.”

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo. In rare or unusual circumstances, FBRN may be able to help get a dog to another volunteer closer to the adopter's home, but the costs of any transportation must be picked up by the adopter.
